Abstract: | The influence of liposome-entrapped catalase and/or superoxide dismutase on bleomycin-induced rat lung injury was studied. Liposome-entrapped catalase and/or superoxide dismutase increase antioxidant enzyme activities in the lung tissue of bleomycin-treated rats. The level of lipid peroxidation products (malondialdehyde, conjugated dienes, lipid hydroperoxides) was significantly lower in liposome-entrapped catalase and/or superoxide dismutase supplemented rats with bleomycin-injured lungs. It is suggested that liposomes are good vectors for drugs in the treatment of bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis. |
