| Abstract: | 37 cultivars with high yield potential were used to study the relationship amongyield, yield components, morphological characters and physiological characteristics.The results indicated that although the yield of a cultivar was influenced by all charac-ters concerped, interrelated with and interacting on each other, the most directdeterminant factors for yield was the yield components. It is very important, therefore,that the improvement of particular characters should be in harmony with theenhancement of yield and yield components. Thus, the concept of model breeding inwhich the characters affecting yield were more coordinated and balanced was proposed,and a tentative model for the Shandong ecological conditions was optimized. |
