| Abstract: | The effect of feeding restriction on the larval survival rates and duration of the tea geometrid ( Ectropis obliqua Prout) was studied. The results of feeding restriction on artificial diet were unanimous to those on tea and showed that the moderate feeding restriction could make the duration of the larval stage prolonged. However, feeding restriction was unfavourable for the larval growth and development. As the length of time of feeding restriction increased, the larval survival rates especially in the early instars decreased, but the pupation of the high instar larvae was advanced while treated with high levels of feeding restriction. Moreover, the capacities of the larvae in different instars to tolerate feeding restriction were different. |
