Abstract:The contents of trace elements and heavy metals in feed-stuffs not only affects the growth and development of beef cattle, but also bring about great threat to health of beef cattle and environmental safety when their content exceeding the standard. In the present study, 23 samples of commonly used feed-stuffs in beef cattle breeding were investigated, the contents of four kinds of trace elements (Cu, Fe, Zn and Se) and two kinds of heavy metals (AS and Pb) were measured by using KBH4 reduction atomic fluorescence spectrometry. Our results showed that the contents of trace elements (Fe, Zn, Se) in examined feed-stuffs exceeded the national standard, especially the high content of Fe in peanut seedlings; In most samples of examined feed-stuffs, AS and Pb were not detected or the content was within the national standard, indicating a mild heavy metal pollution of commonly used feed-stuffs in beef cattle feeding in Biyang county.
