| Abstract: | In order to study effects of sulfur on cotton growth and yield formation,three levels of sulfur fertilizer(30,60,90kg/hm2) were tested based on the conventional application of N,P and K.The expe-rimental results showed that addition of sulfur fertilizer could increase the cotton yield of biomass and economy.When 60kg/hm2 of sulfur fertilizer was applied,the number of bolls per plant was increased by 14.3%,and yields of seed cotton and ginned cotton were increased by 15.9% and 16.0%,respectively,compared to no use of sulfur.Increase of yield by sulfur fertilization was primarily due to the increase in the number of buds and bolls per plant.This research indicated that application of sulfur fertilizer could significantly increase cotton production in middle and high cotton areas of eastern Henan province. |
