Abstract:The spatial analysis function of GIS technology, and remote sensing images as the main information source were used,visual interpretation and field investigation was relied on, the understanding and translation mark database was established to extract the desertification land data of Dongting Lake area in 2014 and 2019. Combined with the field survey data, the dynamic changes of sandy land in the study area were analyzed. The results showed that the land desertification in Dongting Lake area was relatively stable and had a good trend from 2014 to 2019. The area of desertification land decreased by 205.23 hm2, the mobile sandy land decreased significantly, and most of them were transformed into fixed sandy land and semi fixed sandy land. The comprehensive vegetation coverage of sandy land had been improved, the extremely severe sandy land has been significantly reduced. However, the degree of desertification in some areas had intensified. A series of measures taken by the local government during the study period, such as returning forests to humidity and removing low enclosures, have significantly curbed the spread of land desertification, but the aggravation of the degree of sandy land in some areas shows that the vegetation restoration of sandy land is urgent.
