Abstract:In this paper, in order to study the spatial distribution characteristics of CaCO3 contents of chestnut soil in the arid and semiarid region, we chose a plot of 700 × 900 m2 in the Arid Agriculture Experimental Station of Wu Chuan in Inner Mongolia to serve as the study area. There were 80 soil profiles were undertaken. We measured CaCO3 contents, and the spatial variability of CaCO3 contents were analyzed by geostatistical method. The results showed that the mean of calcium carbonate content was 60.7 g kg-1, and the maximum was 429.3 g kg-1. In calcic horizon, the mean of CaCO3 was 108.1 g kg-1. The variable coefficient of the calcium carbonate content of calcic horizon was 0.49, which belonged to medium variation degree. In the study area, there were 57.7% of the thickness of calcic horizon was 20-40 cm. For all of soil profiles, the variable coefficient of the calcium carbonate contents were between 0.91-1.50, that it belonged to medium or strong variation degree. Analysis results of the spatial variability of CaCO3 contents showed, the humus horizon composited the spherical model, and the transition horizon and calcic horizon composited index model, but the parent material performed for the pure nugget effect. The calcium carbonate of humus horizon was moderate intensity spatial correlation, and the transition horizon and calcic horizon were weak spatial correlation. The spatial distribution of calcium carbonate in the transition horizon and Calcic horizon is similarity. The depths of calcic horizons were between 12 cm and 90 cm, and the mean was 48.0 cm, which belonged to index model, and its spatial correlation was weak.
