Abstract:The dynamic accumulation of dry matter, tissue nitrogen and fructan in vegetative parts of bread wheat were studied. The results showed that leaves and stems were major storage tissues for nitrogen and fructan and sources of nitrogen and fructan for grain filling, respectively. Promoting accumulation of nitrogen and fructan in plant parts and translocation from them to grain would enhance grain quality and yield simultaneously.
