Abstract:Nitrate nitrogen uptaken by Hevea plants through roots was reduced mainly in roots and not transported upward to the shoots. Nitrate nitrogen and nitrate reductase activity(NRA)were generally not observed in the leaves and stems.Nitrate nitrogen could be absorbed independently by detached Hevea roots, stems(including barks),leaves and the NRA could be induced.NRA was higher in petioles and barks and lower in leaves and roots when induced separately with an equal concentration of nitrate nitrogen.NRA in Hevea also could be induced by ammonium nitiogen, and the ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen had a synergic effect on NRA induction.Application of rare earth to attached or detached leaves and sttm barks could also induce NRA. Adding rare earth molybdemun to ccmplete nutrient solution could increase NRA in roots of Hevea seedlings.
