| Abstract: | One hundred fivemonthold Sailfin mollies (Mollienesia velifera) and 100 threemonthold Red swordtails (Xiphophorus helleri) were each divided into three groups, a control group and two treated groups whose fundmental feed were enriched with 0.5% of carotenoid and 10methyltestosterone (17MT) respectively. The colour of each group and the content of carotene deposited in fish were recorded at 12day interval during the experiment. The results indicated that the fish colour deepened when they were fed with carotenoid (0.5%); when treated with 10 g/g of 17MT, Sailfin mollies could not finish sex reversal (from female to male) and their colour little changed, in contrast, the Red swordtails finished sex reversal and their body colour seemed to have deepened. |
