Abstract: Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), a single-stranded DNA virus transmitted by whiteflies, causes severe damage to tomato and pepper production worldwide. During the surveying of viral disease on vegetables in 2014, yellowing and slightly curl symptom on upper leaves was observed in sweet pepper plants growing in a greenhouse of Haidian district, Beijing, China. To test whether these diseased sweet pepper plants were infected by geminiviruses, a PCR assay was performed with total DNA isolated from diseased sample using a pair of degenerated primers PA/PB for geminiviruses. A fragment (about 540 bp) was amplified and sequence analysis indicated that the sample might be infected by TYLCV. The isolate was named TYLCV-Haidian. Complete genome sequence of TYLCV-Haidian isolate was obtained, which is 2 781 nt in length. Phylogenetic analysis showed that TYLCV-Haidian clustered with TYLCV-SH2, an isolate in Shanghai. To our knowledge, this is the first report of complete sequence of TYLCV in sweet pepper of Beijing, China.
