| Abstract: | In this study,antioxidant activity of Pelargonium fragrans essential oil was further studied in vitro and in vivo.Antioxidant in vitro determined the scavenging effect of its extract on superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical produced by the chemical model system and antioxidant in vivo was studied by measuring the superoxide dismutase activity,CAT activity,and the MDA content.The result showed that the anti-oxidation effect of Pelargonium fragrans essential oil could entrance the clearance rates of hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical and their IC50 concentrations were 5.1 μg/mL and 0.8 μg/mL respectively.The application amount of the essential oils from Pelargonium fragrans reached 3.0 μL/kg in mouse experiments,and the SOD,CAT activity in the mice serum increased significantly compared with the control,while the content of MDA in liver tissue was very notably reduced compared with the control. |
