Summary The use of virus trap plants — glasshouse-raised seedlings that are exposed to the aphid flight for limited periods — for epidemiological investigations of aphid-borne virus diseases is dicussed in relation to investigations in weed communities at Berlin and in citrus groves at Nelspruit, South Africa. By using this method, the annual spread of aphid-borne virus diseases at a site can be determined and related to the flight activity of the aphid vectors. |
