| Abstract: | From 1985 to 1989 irrigation experiments were carried out in the native grasslands and artificial pastures at arid,semiarid and moist regions of the Gansu Province.The experimental sites are 2000 to 3500 meters above sea level.The relationships of herbage yield,rainfall and herbage water requirement were established both in the native grasslands and artificial pastures.Wa- ter requiring pattern of herbage growth and the key term of herbage water requirment were determined.The irrigation regime and the optimum soil water content for herbage plant growth were developed.The economic benefits of irrigation were calculat- ed. |
