| Abstract: | In order to estimate the influence of shoot pruning on the growth of pine to control Dioryctria rubella,the experiments on shoot pruning at young plantations of Pinus massoniana and Pinus elliottii to control D.rubella larva were carried out in May and July.The result showed,the effect of shoot pruning on the growth of pine tree to control the damage of D.rubella was related to the pine species and pruning time.Shoot pruning had a certain promoting effect on the ground diameter growth of pine.Moreover,the increase of ground diameter of P.massoniana was most obvious when the tree shoots were sheared in May,and the relative growth of the ground diameter was increased by 14.87%.However,it had no significant influence to the height growth of P.massoniana and P.elliottii by pruning shoots in May.While,the relative height growth of P.massoniana and P.elliottii were reduced by 12.99% and 7.93% respectively by pruning shoots in July.The influence of shoot pruning in May on the shoot elongation of P.massoniana was significantly lower than that in July.However,this control way had no significant influence to the shoot elongation of P.elliottii.It synthetically showed that,it had less effect on the pine tree growth by shoot pruning in May to control D.rubella,compared with that in July.So shoot pruning in May to control D.rubella in two pine forest is suggested. |
