Abstract: | Dothistroma pini Hulbary, not hitherto reported in Britain,is described. Since 1954, and possibly before this date, ithas caused serious defoliation of nursery pine stock, particularlyof Pinus nigra and P. ponderosa. It has been reported only fromtwo nurseries both in the Wareham area, Dorset, but the reasonfor this extremely limited distribution is unknown. Attacksare worst in wet summers. Spore inoculations on potted plantsgave severe infection. |
