| Abstract: | Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) can infect pigs of all ages but is more likely to infect newborn piglets. Piglet epidemic diarrhea is a kind of common but harmful disease in pig farm. A total of 641 live piglets produced by 56 sows in a pig farm in Lianyungang from April to May of 2019 were investigated. The results showed that 94 piglets died during lactation, including 42 died of diseases, accounting for about 45%. Among them, 21 died of epidemic diarrhea, accounting for 50% of deaths and 22% of total deaths. In addition, by visiting some local pig farmers found that the current losses caused by piglet epidemic diarrhea is still large. Finally, the causes of epidemic diarrhea in piglets are analyzed and preventive measures are put forward to provide reference for reducing the incidence of epidemic diarrhea in piglets and taking more effective prevention and treatment methods for pig farms to reduce losses. |
