Abstract: | The effect of constant and alternating temperatures, rinsing, stratification and application of a fertilizer solution on germination of 4 weed species was studied. The seeds of Matricaria chamomilla L. (mayweed) and Poa annua L. (annual meadow grass) achieved almost 100% germination under any condition. For Solanum nigrum L. (black nightshade) an alternating temperature was necessary for germination. The germination percentage of this species was also improved by a cold pretreatment. For Thlaspi arvense L. (stinkweed) a high germination percentage was obtained only when stratification, alternating temperature and a fertilizer solution were applied. |
