| Abstract: | Controversy still exists on the role of various inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of canine atopic dermatitis. The objective of this article is to review the most recent information available on the inflammatory mediators that have been implicated in the pathogenesis of this disease. Studies on the role of histamine, serotonin, leukotrienes and various cytokines are presented in a comparative manner reviewing the experimental evidence for a role in the pathogenesis and the arguments against it. |
