Nature Monitoring System Establishment and Ecological Integrity Assessment in National Parks

Abstract:National park is an important place where a country or region maintains the balance of natural ecosystems, protects the ecological environment and biodiversity, promotes the development of ecotourism, and conducts scientific research and environmental education. Therefore, it is of great significance to strengthen the protection and management of national parks. One of the important tasks involved is to carry out science-based and standardized monitoring & evaluation, so as to reflect their protection effectiveness and their extent of ecological integrity. This paper reviews the concept, origin and development of national parks, focusing on the significance and procecures of establishing the eco-environment and natural resources monitoring system in national parks, as well as the assessment of national parks’ ecological integrity based on collected monitoring data. This is to provide scientific support and strategical reference for protecting ecological integrity of national parks under the scenario of anthropogenic perturbation and climate change.
