| Abstract: | Of all elements of the physical environment, vegetation is possibly the
most vulnerable to change by human activities. Under the enormous pressure
of African population with rapid and continued growth, its vegetation
today is deteriorating at an unprecedented speed. In Africa the main sabotage
destructive activities are clear cut, burning and overgrazing. In the paper,
the impacts of fire, deforestation, cultivation, livestocks and wild animals
on the vegetation are expounded respectively. Ideas for African vegetation
protection are also explained. |
