| Abstract: | Objective To study the short and long term effect of CO2 pneumoperitoneum on estriol level and placental function in mid pregnancy rats. Methods Sixty mid pregnancy rats were randomly divided into control （n=12）, short （n=24） and long influence （n=24） groups. Control group were only anesthesized, while two influence groups were treated with 8 mmHg or 15 mmHg CO2 pneumoperitoneum for 1 h or 2 h. Short and long influence groups were sacrificed immediately or till late pregnancy after pneumoperitoneum, respectively. Plasma, amniotic fluid, and placenta levels of estriol were detected by ELISA, and the abortion rate was observed. Results Plasma and amuiotie fluid levels of estriol were insignificant in all groups （P〉0.05）, but placenta contents of estriol reduced in high pressure and long term CO2 pneumoperitoneum （P〈0.05）. There was no difference in abortion rate in all groups （P〉0.05）. Conclusion High pressure and long term CO2 pneumoperitoneum may inhibit the placental function by reducing placenta estriol levels in mid pregnancy rats. |
