Abstract:Since the seventeenth century, tea ( Camellia sinensis) was spread to the west, and then it became one of the most important and valuable commodity on the south Marine Silk Road. When tea was accepted by the local people and merged into the local culture, tea drinking became a habit which promoted the demands of Chinese tea and tea wares. The collections in the China National Tea Museum, including the tea salvaged from the wrecks, tea wares, and some paintings, revealed the spread history of Chinese tea in the western world during 17th to 19th century. The influences of Chinese tea on the culture, economy and the porcelain industry in western society were discussed.
Keywords:Cultural relic  tea  tea wares  spreading to the west  influences
