Abstract:The study on characteristics of sweet potato suggests that Jingshan 1255 has the highest yield among the three different varieties and it can reach a significant and most significant level as compared with Fushu 1933 and Gan 64-283. The following are the main reasons for the high yield of Jingshan 1255: large photosynthesis area, high photosynthesis efficiency, accordant growth of over ground and underground parts, rapid source-sink transformation, higher biological yield and economic coefficient. Fushu 1933 has a rapid growth at early stage and a luxuriant growth in the whole growing period. Its T/R ratio is higher. As a result, both its biological yield and economic coefficient tend to be low. Gan 64-283, a conventional variety, is weak not only at its early stage but also in the whole growing period. Its photosynthesis area is small so that its biological yield and economic coefficient are very low.
