Abstract:The paper aims at the illustration of the relationship between linguistic theories and English teaching of vocational colleges with examples : the interactive hypothesis as the theoretical foundation of student-based teaching mode; the role of metaeognitive theories in the training of students' learning strategies; the guiding role of Swain's output hypothesis in the acquisition of language skills and the proper application of interlanguage error analysis for students' confidence in language learning
