| 摘 要： | 作为英语书面文本中的一种特殊现象, 无灵主语句在英语句型中十分普遍。由于中西思维方式、文化和语言上的不同, 中国学生很难学会使用无灵主语句。本文根据认知语言学家莱考夫的“概念隐喻”理论和系统功能语言学家韩礼德的“语法隐喻”理论, 意在分析中西不同思维方式的生成机制, 找出理解英语无灵主语句的方法, 从而帮助中国学生克服中式思维, 造出符合英语表达习惯的句子。

| Abstract: | As a unique language phenom enon in English written texts, English sentences with inanim ate subjects (ESW IS) are quite typicalin English sentence patterns. Due to culturaland linguistic differencesbetween English and Chinese and differencesin waysofthinking between Eastand W est, itisdifficultforChinese students to learn to use ESW IS. In the lightofGeorge Lakoff''s "conceptualm etaphor"theory from the cognitive approach and M . A. K.
