Abstract:Rice(Oryza sativa L) is one of the most important staple foods, and is a model crop for cereal crop genome research. With decades of efforts, Chinese scientists have made remarkable achievements in rice genetics and functional genomics, particularly in dissecting molecular mechanism about rice ideal plant architecture, fertility, broad-spectrum disease resistance, cold and heat tolerance, salt tolerance, efficient nutrient utilization, and also the breeding theory of molecular design, initiating a new research field—Using rice as a model crop to study the gene regulation networks of complex traits. The development trend of rice molecular biology science and technology in China is put forward.
