Abstract:five Calcium levels were designed in pot experiment,i.e.CaCl2 solution 0%,0.3%,0.5%,0.8%,1.0%,and three irrigation methods,i.e.,conventional irrigation(CI,soil was evenly irrigated with tap water in each watering),alternate partial root-zone irrigation(APRI,watering was alternately applied to the two halves in the pot in consecutive watering) and fixed partial root-zone irrigation(PRD,watering was fixed to half of the soil in the pot).Yield and quality of tomato were measured.Results show that compared to CI treatment,APRI and PRD treatments reduced irrigation water by 30%.Under different Ca levels,APRI treatment improved tomato plants growth and increased tomato yield and quality.But PRD treatment reduced tomato yield by 18.19% when compared to CI treatment.At the same time,Ca enhanced tomato yield and quality within CaCl2 0% to 0.8%.The highest yield,Vc content and ratio of sugar/acid were obtained in APRI×CaCl2 0.8% treatment.The above-mentioned results indicate that APRI not only saved irrigation water,but also enhanced the tomato yield and improved tomato quality.And the effect of APRI should be better materialized under appropriate fertilization.
