Abstract:The purpose of this study was to determine the concentrated degossypolized cottonseed protein(CDCP)digestive energy for growing pigs through pig digestive metabolism experiment, and to study effects of CDCP on growth performance, serum biochemical indexes and nutrient apparent digestibilities of piglets.Eight healthy 65-day-old“Duroc×Landrace×Large White”barrows with body weight of(38.80±2.60)kg were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups with 4 replicates per group and 1 pig per replicate.Pigs in 2 groups were fed with basal diet and experimental diet(80%basal diet+20%CDCP),respectively.Pigs were single-cage feeding,a cross-over method was used for the digestion and metabolism test to determine the digestion energy. Then a total of 132 healthy(31±2)-day-old“Duroc×Landrace×Large White”piglets with body weight of(10.00±0.60)kg were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups(control group and a CDCP group)with 6 replicates per group and 11 pigs per replicate according to a random block design.Piglets in the control group were fed a basal diet(contained 5%fish meal),piglets in the CDCP group were fed an experimental diet(used CDCP to completely replace the fish meal in the basal diet),the digestible energy and standardized ileal digestibility lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan levels of two diets were meet or exceed the nutritional requirements of NRC(2012)for piglets. The experiment lasted for 28 days. The results showed that the apparent digestibility of energy of CDCP for growing pigs was 86.64%,and the digestive energy was 15.61 MJ/kg.There were no significant differences in average daily gain, average daily feed intake, feed to gain ratio, diarrhea rate and serum biochemical indexes between the two groups(P>0.05);the apparent digestibilities of energy and ether extract of CDCP group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05),but the apparent digestibilities of dry matter, crude protein and ash were no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05).In summary,CDCP digestive energy for growing pigs was 15.61 MJ/kg.Under the conditions of the dietary digestible energy and standardized ileal digestibility lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan levels of two diets are meet or exceed the nutritional requirements of NRC(2012)for piglets, and the replacement of fish meal with CDCP have no effect on growth performance of piglets.
