Because growth ring data have temporal features, time series analysis can be used to simulate and reveal changes in the life of a tree and contribute to plantation management. In this study, the autoregressive(AR) and moving average modeling method was used to simulate the time series for growth ring density in a larch plantation with different initial planting densities. We adopted the Box–Jenkins method for the modeling, which was initially based on an intuitive analysis of sequence graphs followed by the augmented Dickey–Fuller stationarity test. The order p and q of the ARMA(p, q) model was determined based on the autocorrelation and partial correlation coefficient figure truncated on the respective order.Through the residual judgment, the model AR(2) was only fitted to the larch growth ring density series for the plantation with the 1.5 9 2.0 m^2 initial planting density.Because the residuals series for the other three series was not shown as a white noise sequence, the modeling was rerun. Larch wood from the initial planting density of2.0 9 2.0 m^2 was modeled by ARMA(2, 1), and ARMA((1, 5), 3) fitted to the 2.5 9 2.5 m^2 initial planting density,and the 3.0 9 3.0 m^2 was modeled by AR(1, 2, 5).Although the ARMA modeling can simulate the change in growth ring density, data for the different growth ring time series were described by different models. Thus, time series modeling can be suitable for growth ring data analysis, revealing the time domain and frequency domain of growth ring data.  相似文献

The recovery of compression set (RS) of wood after dry heating or steam treatment mainly depends on the temperature and time of treatment. For quantitative elucidation, a graph of intermediate RS was built with temperature (7) and time (t) as coordinates. In this graph (abbreviated as T-t planum), a series of curves of RS were created. This leads to a conclusion that same RS can be obtained by numerous different pathways. Further research on pathway equivalency based on T-t planum indicates that a low RS of 10% can be achieved definitely by different combinations of time and temperature. However, the fixation mechanism varies at different temperatures. On the equivalent pathways of higher recovery, the influence of temperature must be taken into consideration. The actual routes must be somewhat modified to achieve an expected result. This makes it possible for us to work out a best fixation pathway among all the possibilities, to eliminate the impact of heat on the mechanical properties of wood.  相似文献

This study examined the effect of site and elevation on the oven-dry density and volumetric shrinkage of hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) wood.For this purpose,45 normal hornbeam trees from three different sites (Mazandaran,Guilan and Golestan) at three elevations,300 m (low elevation),700 m (intermediate elevation) and 1100 m (high elevation) from natural forest in northern Iran were selected.Disks were cut at breast height from mature wood and test samples were prepared to determine physical properties,i.e.,wood density and volumetric shrinkage.The results show that there are significant differences between site and elevation on these physical properties of wood.The interaction effects between site × elevation on wood density and volumetric shrinkage were also statistically significant.At any fixed site,wood density and volumetric shrinkage increased with elevation.As well,their values at Guilan were higher than those at the other two sites.The relationship between wood density and volumetric shrinkage was determined by simple regression equations.Strong,positive relationships between wood density and volumetric shrinkage at each site were found.Again,these were stronger at the Guilan site than at the other two sites.Given a fixed site,the correlation at high elevation was stronger than at the other two elevations.  相似文献

Density and resin content are two factors that have a signifi- cant effect on the production cost of wood composite. However, particle size affects resin content and density, which suggests that the interaction of these three factors can be manipulated to reduce the board density and resin content of particleboard without adversely influencing its mechani- cal properties. Some mathematical functional forms based on resin con- tent, board density and slenderness ratio were regressed and an appropri- ate form was chosen. According to analysis of the results using SHA- ZAM 9 software, the exponential function best fit the experimental data. Finally, "indifference curves" of mechanical properties were illustrated and analyzed. The results indicated that negative effects of density or resin content reduction on mechanical properties could be compensated for by controlling particles’ slenderness ratio. Interestingly, increases in slenderness ratio compensated for the negative effects of decreases in resin content or board density on module of rupture (MOR) and module of elasticity (MOE). Moreover, this "compensation ratio" intensified as resin content or density decreased and/or as the MOR or MOE increased. On the other hand, reduction in slenderness ratio indicated a comple- mentary effect on reducing internal bond (IB) strength, a result of de- creases in resin content or density. The local damages such as knots,decay, and cracks can be translated into a reduction of service life due to mechanical and environmental loadings.In wood construction,it is very important to evaluate the weakest location and detect damage at the earliest possible stage to avoid the future catastrophic failure.In this study,the modal testing was operated on wood beams to generate the first two mode shapes.A novel statistical algorithm was proposed to extract the damage indicator by computing the modal flexibility curvature before and after damage in timbers.The different damage severities,damage locations,and damage counts were simulated by removing mass from intact beams to verify the algorithm.The results showed that the proposed statistical algorithm was effective and suitable to the designed damage scenarios.It was reliable to detect and locate local damages under different severities,locations,and counts.The peak values of the damage indicators computed from the first two mode shapes were sensitive to different damage severities and locations.They were also reliable to detect the multiple damages.  相似文献

The wood basic density, cellulose content and fiber form were investigated for all sample trees at breast height (1.3m) in seven poplar clones, and at 0 (butt), 5.6, 9.6, 13.6, 17.6, 19.6 and 21.6 m for clone Nanlin-95 and Nanlin-895, respectively,for providing information on variation patterns of wood density, fiber characteristics and holocellulose content within trees and among clones. The results showed that significant variations about wood density, cellulose content, fiber diameter and the ratio of fiber length to diameter existed among poplar clones examined. Variance analysis indicated that there were significant differences in wood basic density, fiber length, fiber diameter and cellulose content among the growth rings, which had an increasing tendency along the direction from pith to bark. The significant differences also existed in wood basic density, fiber length and fiber diameter at different tree height. The mean wood basic density had a general increase trend with increasing height of trees and the lowest was found at the base, while fiber length and fiber diameter had a general decline pattern with increasing height of trees and the biggest value was observed at the height of 5.6 m. Regression analysis indicated that the relationship between examined wood properties and growth ring number (cambial age), and the relationship between examined wood properties and tree height can be described by polynomial functions.  相似文献

Impregnation method can effectively improve physical and mechanical properties of wood. In this study, plantation poplar lumbers are impregnated by a low molecular weight phenol-formaldehyde resin solution with concentration of 30% under vacuum-pressure process, and then dried and machined according to the related standards. To generate carbon credits under the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation program(REDD+), accurate estimates of forest carbon stocks are needed. Carbon accounting efforts have focused on carbon stocks in aboveground biomass(AGB).Although wood specific gravity(WSG) is known to be an important variable in AGB estimates, there is currently a lack of data on WSG for Malagasy tree species. This study aimed to determine whether estimates of carbon stocks calculated from literature-based WSG values differed from those based on WSG values measured on wood core samples. Carbon stocks in forest biomass were assessed using two WSG data sets:(i) values measured from 303 wood core samples extracted in the study area,(ii) values derived from international databases. Results suggested that there is difference between the field and literaturebased WSG at the 0.05 level. The latter data set was on average 16 % higher than the former. However, carbon stocks calculated from the two data sets did not differ significantly at the 0.05 level. Such findings could be attributed to the form of the allometric equation used which gives more weight to tree diameter and tree height than to WSG. The choice of dataset should depend on the level of accuracy(Tier II or III) desired by REDD+. As higher levels of accuracy are rewarded by higher prices, speciesspecific WSG data would be highly desirable.  相似文献

To examine the differences between juvenile and mature wood, 12 aged sample trees from two areas of Nagano Prefecture were harvested; and the radial development of tracheid length, the ring density, and the relation of the radial growth rate (observed by ring width) with some selected indices of ring structure were investigated. The results proved that the radial variation of tracheid length with ring number can be described by a logarithmic formula, and both plantations reached the demarcation of juvenile and mature wood at age 18. With the segmented regression method, we also analyzed radial variation of mean density and found that the demarcation of juvenile and mature wood was at age 15 for sample trees from Saku and at age 21 for those from Yabuhara. By using the results of estimates from juvenile and mature wood based on ring density, we found that high growth rates resulted when producing lower-density wood during the juvenile period, but these rates did not occur during the mature period. The basic reason for this phenomenon is the variation in patterns of earlywood and latewood in juvenile and mature wood, respectively. This result advised us that when managing plantations of Japanese larch it is necessary to take different measurements at different growth periods.  相似文献

Summary For the assessment of many different aspects of growth processes in trees millions of annual rings are being measured all over the world every year. Other studies dealing with the prediction or explanation of wood properties also require numerous density measurements. While the density of a wood sample is relatively easy to determine by stereogravimetric methods, density relationships or variations within a piece of wood and within individual annual rings can only be detected by time-consuming techniques, e.g. radiodensitometry. A new, simplified method for ring analysis was developed with the aid of the sandblasting and laser sensor method. This process permits the automatic recording of annual radial increment and simultaneously provides results on the mean and intra-annual density of the wood specimens. Sandblasting of cross-sections of stems or of radial strips produces hardness profiles. Due to the hardness variations in these profiles individual annual rings can be more or less easily identified macroscopically, depending on the wood species. Furthermore, density variations are also macroscopically visible on account of the relationship between abrasion depth and density: Sandblasting can be said to provide a three-dimensional representation of the density relationships in wood. Following the numerical recording of these surface profiles with the aid of a laser sensor and upon conversion of abrasion depth profiles into density profiles radial increment and density parameters for stem radii, segments of radii or even individual annual rings can be determined. A comparison with the conventional radiodensitometric ring analysis method shows very good correlations with the results achieved in this study. The advantage of the laser-sandblasting method is that large samples can be investigated without great preparatory effort and in a single processing step.  相似文献

对两种不同栽植密度的杉木Cunninghamialanceolata木材密度和弦向、径向、体积全干干缩率进行了测定和分析.结果表明,木材密度随着栽植密度的增大而增大,且达到极显著水平;而木材弦向、径向和体积全干干缩率,则随着栽植密度的增大而减小;两种栽植密度的木材体积全干干缩率与基本密度呈负相关;木材干缩比与基本密度、栽植密度大的呈正相关,与栽植密度小的呈负相关.因此,适当增加栽植密度可以改善杉木木材的性质,但其影响规律仍需进一步研究.  相似文献

In this paper, the variation pattern of wood properties was studied for naturalCunninghamia lanceolata. The mathematical models of property parameters were obtained on tracheid length, microfibril angle, late wood percentage, growth ring width and growth ring density in the radial direction. The interrelation were analyzed between tracheid length and microfibril angle. The result can provide scientific theory basis for wood utilization and early prediction of wood properties.  相似文献

采用氧九法对4种树种木材、5种阻燃物质燃烧特性的研究发现,未阻燃木材的氧指数在纵横向上有差异性,纵向高于横向,径弦向差异很小。这主要是木材结构各向异性以及各方向上的导热系数不同所致。木材树种不同氧指数也有差异,原因之一密度不同所致。阻燃处理可使方向上的的差异逆转,即横向高于纵向。同一阻燃物质对不同树种木才的作用效果不同,即树料与阻燃物质之间存在适应性问题。树种铎氧指数有很大影响。  相似文献

选用广西马尾松龄施肥材料(连续观测13年),根据国际《木材物理力学试验方法》,研究了施肥对木材密度和干缩率的影响,结果表明:N、P、K三要素中,以N、P肥对木材密度和干缩率的影响较大。⑴总的来说P增加木材密度和干缩率,N肥降低木材密度木材干缩率。N、P肥降低木材差异干缩。施K肥对木材密度和干缩率的影响规律性不明显。⑵N、P、K施肥对木材密度和干缩率的影响及其变化程度,与肥种、施肥量、树干部位、木纹方向、气干或全干状态有关。施P肥木材密度具有增加的趋势,而且树干下部基本密度方差分析各处理间差异显著。N、K肥对木材密度的影响,规律性不明显。P肥使木材干缩率增加,P肥主要增加的是全干干缩率和径向气干干缩率,特别是树干下部径向气干干缩率各处理间差异显著。K肥对干缩率的影响规律性不明显,有待进一步研究。⑶为了保证木材质量,对于纤维用材林,主要施P肥;对于结构用材林,可施P肥,适当考虑N肥、K肥施用应慎重。  相似文献

The radial pattern of both maximum ring density and ring area of 36 black spruce trees were used to determine the transition age from juvenile wood to mature wood. The data were obtained by X-ray densitometry and both segmented linear and polynomial regressions were used to point out the age of the juvenile wood boundary. Three stand densities (1,790, 2,700 and 3,400 stems/ha) and three sampling heights (2.4, 5.1 and 7.8 m) were studied. Although maximum ring density and ring area presented similar radial patterns, they gave two significantly different results of transition ages. The maximum ring density over-estimated the transition age (17.6 years) in contrast to ring area (14 years). The results show that the transition from juvenile wood to mature wood occurred after 12 years at 7.8 m (versus 13.1 years at a height of 5.1 m, and 17.6 years at 2.4 m). Although transition age occurred later in the high stand density group (21 years), the difference was not significant between the three stand density groups. Nevertheless, transition age remains difficult to determine since no standard definition exists. The transition occurs over years, and most probably a transition wood exists between juvenile wood and mature wood. Estimation of the juvenile wood proportion in volume shows that it remains constant along the stem and it increases with stand density.  相似文献

利用浙江龙泉和庆元两地在较好立地上营造的21 36年生红豆树、江南油杉、伯乐树、闽楠、刨花楠和乐东拟单性木兰6种珍贵用材树种的片林,以研究其生长、干形和木材基本密度的变化规律。研究结果表明,红豆树是一个树高和胸径生长量大、径生长速生持续期长、木材基本密度中等及其径向均匀性较高的珍贵用材树种,平均年轮宽度达到0.8 1.2 cm,36年生时按宽度和面积计算心材比例分别为60.57%和37.47%。因红豆树分叉干特性明显,在栽植的第2年就应及时修枝抹芽和施肥,以培育树干通直、心材比例高的优质干材。江南油杉和闽楠等其它5种珍贵用材树种皆较少分叉干,其树干通直。闽楠以材质优良而闻名,木材密度中等,虽然其生长速度较慢,但生长势很强,年生长量稳定,加之树冠窄小,适宜长周期大径材的培育;伯乐树生长速度中等,木材密度略低,但其径向均匀性较高,宜作为优质的工艺材来培育;树冠窄小的乐东拟单性木兰生长速度中等,但其木材密度大、径向均匀性高,是优良的珍贵用材树种;江南油杉是个早期生长快而后期生长慢,木材密度中等的针叶树种,可通过加强经营管理延长速生期和提高木材密度的径向均匀性;刨花楠虽然生长速度中等,但其木材密度却较低,浸水有粘液,不宜作为珍贵用材树种培育。  相似文献

对两个地区不同种植密度的湿地松、火炬松进行了微密度分析,研究了种植密度对木材密度径向变异模式的影响。主要结果是:种植密度对湿地松和火炬松各密度特征值径向变异模式的影响,主要表现在变异曲线平均水平高低的变动,而对变异曲线形状的影响并不显著。种植密度对湿地松和火炬松各年轮宽特征值径向变异模式的影响,主要表现在年轮宽度RW和早材宽度EW变异曲线平均水平高低的变动和RW、EW与晚材宽度LW变异曲线形状的变动。种植密度对年轮密度RD的影响从年轮内宽度和年轮密度变异曲线平均水平高低两个方面起作用,出现较复杂的情况,并非所有情况下都是单调的正相关。  相似文献

以黑龙江省帽儿山的落叶松为试材,利用显微镜测定年轮内细胞胞壁厚度从早材到晚材的变化数据,对其生长变化进行研究归纳。通过对数据的函数拟合得出:年轮内胞壁厚度从早材到晚材呈指数变化趋势,由此得出胞壁厚度的数学模型。此研究对于了解落叶松生长机理方面以及对落叶松材性预测方面的研究工作,将有一定的借鉴和帮助。  相似文献
