The myoelectric activity of the cecum and right ventral colon (RVC) was studied in 4 female ponies. Eight, bipolar Ag-AgCl electrodes were sequentially placed on the seromuscular layer of the cecum (6 electrodes) and RVC (2 electrodes), and recordings were begun 14 days after surgery. The myoelectric activity for each pony was recorded during 12, 60-minute recording sessions done during the interdigestive period (3 to 7 hours after the morning feeding). Coordinated series of spike bursts were recognized as independent motility patterns in the cecum and in the RVC. Local haustra-haustra myoelectric activity involving approximately 40 cm of the cecal body (0.45 +/- 0.03 spike bursts/min) were detected. A series of spike bursts started at the cecal apex and progressed to, but stopped at, the caudal cecal base (0.40 +/- 0.03 spike bursts/min). Infrequently, a series of spike bursts started at the apex and progressed to the cranial cecal base (0.09 +/- 0.01 spike bursts/min). More commonly, a series of spike bursts with a conduction velocity of 3.8 +/- 0.07 cm/s, began in the cranial base and progressed orally to the cecal apex (0.46 +/- 0.03 spike bursts/min). Spike bursts conducted aborally (propulsion) beginning at the origin of the RVC (0.05 +/- 0.007 spike bursts/min) and spike bursts conducted orally (retropulsion; 0.15 +/- 0.02 spike bursts/min) were seen independent of cecal myoelectric activity. A progressive series of coordinated spike bursts, which began at the cecal apex, were conducted through the cecolic orifice and continued into the RVC (0.42 +/- 0.02 spike bursts/min), representing the only pattern common to the cecum and RVC.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The electromyogram of the terminal ileum, the caecum and the proximal right ventral colon was recorded in fasted conscious ponies receiving intravenously equiactive doses of pilocarpine (0.05 mg/kg) and carbachol (0.01 mg/kg) as acetylcholine analogues; cisapride (0.1 mg/kg) and metoclopramide (2 mg/kg) facilitating acetylcholine release from myenteric neurones and naloxone (0.05 mg/kg) as an antagonist of the endogenous inhibitory opioid system. Both cisapride and naloxone induced typical migrating spike bursts in the colon associated with contractions of caecal body and caecal base. Both pilocarpine and carbachol stimulated the terminal ileum but had opposite effects on the activity of the caeco-colonic segment which was decreased by pilocarpine and increased by carbachol. High doses of metoclopramide had weak and unspecific stimulatory motor effects. It is concluded that a true prokinetic effect at the equine ileo-caeco-colonic junction requires a motor profile which includes coordination between contractions sequentially involving the body and the base of the caecum and migrating spike bursts on the proximal colon. Such changes in the motor profile were produced by cisapride and naloxone and to a lesser extent by carbachol.  相似文献

An electromyographic study of the proximal duodenum in cattle is presented. Changes of motility patterns were studied after induced mechanical obstruction of the descending duodenum in five healthy cows. Special attention was paid to the ratio of antegrade and retrograde motility. Induced duodenal obstruction of which the duration was at most 48 hours, resulted in abrupt disorganisation of the migrating myoelectric complexes; the phases of regular spiking activity disappeared completely or reappeared in a disorganised pattern, and the phases of irregular spiking activity consisted of repetitive groups of spike bursts with prolonged duration and increased propagation velocity. Retrograde peristaltic contractions in the proximal duodenum were observed. Relief of obstruction resulted in a rapid reorganisation of the cyclic pattern of the migrating myoelectric complexes, which indicates normalisation of intestinal activity.  相似文献

As feeding is not a factor disrupting the migrating motor (myoelectric) complex (MMC) in sheep, it is presumed that the fed pattern is absent in this animal species. In turn, feeding may stimulate ovine gastrointestinal motility. To verify this discrepancy the myoelectric activities of the antrum and duodeno-jejunum were recorded in seven adult sheep. Additionally, the relationship between electrical and mechanical activity was tested in four of these animals by means of strain gauge force transducers mounted near the duodenal electrodes. Chronic experiments were conducted in fasted and non-fasted sheep before, during, and after standard feeding. Fodder was offered during the duodenal phases 1, 2a, or 2b of the MMC. Two types of responses to feeding (an unspecific and a specific fed pattern) were denoted. A simple increase in spike burst intensity, i.e. without their special deployment and assessed as the myoelectric activity index (unspecific fed pattern), was observed in the abomasal antrum and small bowel during and after feeding in the course of phase 2b of the MMC in non-fasted and fasted sheep. In the abomasal antrum its duration was longer than in the small intestine. In non-fasted animals the unspecific fed pattern was more pronounced in the abomasal antrum than in the small bowel, while its duration was longer in fasted animals. The specific fed pattern was evoked in the duodeno-jejunum during feeding initiated in the course of phase 2b of the MMC exclusively in non-fasted animals. During this pattern, the spike burst series were significantly reduced compared with those which appeared during phase 2b of the MMC and dispersed single spike bursts predominated. The average duration of the specific fed pattern was 3-4 min and it arrived 2-7 min after feeding onset. In the remaining periods during feeding, the spike burst pattern resembled that often observed during phase 2b of the MMC. Thus the confined fed pattern is present in sheep and its character depends upon the gastrointestinal region and feeding habits.  相似文献

Myoelectric activity in 2 cows instrumented with permanent electrodes in the ileum, cecum, proximal loop of the ascending colon (PLAC), and spiral colon was analyzed after an obstruction developed in the distal small intestine. Results were compared with patterns from a group of 7 normal cows. Myoelectric activity in the ileum immediately orad to the occlusion was characterized by abolition of the migrating myoelectric complex (MMC) and a constant pattern of strong spike bursts of long duration. Cyclic activity was present in all parts of the large intestine, and propagation of phase III activity was evident from proximal to distal. A slight degree of disorganization in phase III propagation was restricted to the spiral colon. Activity cycles tended to be shorter in the cecum and PLAC of both cows with colic than in normal cows, and the intensity of spiking activity was generally lower. Changes in duration of the MMC in the spiral colon (bovine colonic MMC, bcMMC) were inconsistent, but the intensity of spiking activity tended to be lower in phases I and II of both cows compared to controls. The organization of phase III in several spindles typical of the bovine spiral colon was not disrupted, but phase IV of the bcMMC occurred only infrequently. Organized cyclic activity occurred in the large intestine of both cows despite complete disruption of the small intestinal MMC, indicating the presence of mechanisms able to initiate and regulate coordinated myoelectric patterns in the large intestine independent of the small intestine.  相似文献

The presented study was designed to elucidate whether the cholinergic mechanisms control ovine antral slow waves in various physiological conditions, including feeding and various phases of migrating myoelectric complex (MMC). The investigations were carried out on six adult sheep of Polish Merino breed with seven bipolar electrodes surgically implanted onto the antral and small intestinal wall. In the course of chronic experiments, the myoelectric activity was recorded from these regions using the multichannel electroencephalograph. Experiments were performed on 48 h fasted and non-fasted animals. During some of these experiments, sheep were fed with standard fodder. During control experiments 0.15 M NaCl was slowly administered i.v. through the indwelling catheter and during other experiment, hexamethonium bromide (2.0 and 5.0 mg/kg). atropine sulfate (0.02; 0.1; 0.5 and 1.5 mg/kg) and pirenzepine dihydrochloride (0.02; 0.5 and 2.0 mg/kg) were administered i.v. during phase 1-2a or 2b MMC. The drugs were also given in combinations. The recordings were analysed and the antral slow wave amplitudes and frequencies were calculated. Unlike the slow wave amplitude, either feeding or the anticholinergic drugs significantly increased slow wave frequency, especially when the given procedure was started during phase 2b MMC. The most pronounced effects were observed after hexamethonium given alone or in combinations. Thus, the cholinergic system modulates antral slow wave frequency in sheep.  相似文献

Myoelectric activity of the ileum, cecum, and right ventral colon (RVC) was studied in 4 mature ponies. Eight Ag-AgCl bipolar recording electrodes were sutured to the seromuscular layer of the ileum (2 electrodes), cecum (4 electrodes), and RVC (2 electrodes). Myoelectric activity was studied beginning 10 days after surgery. Eight, 60-minute recording sessions were performed in each pony during the interdigestive period, which was the period 3 to 7 hours after the morning feeding. On separate days, food was withheld for 24 hours, and 90-minute recordings were obtained during the nonfeeding period. Ponies were then fed a normal ration, and recordings were continued to obtain data for the digestive (feeding) period. All phases of the migrating myoelectric complex were seen at both ileal electrodes during the interdigestive period, including the periods of no spiking activity (phase 1), irregular spiking activity (phase 2), and regular spiking activity (phase 3). Phase 2 occupied 77% of the total recording time, and the mean duration of phases 1, 2, and 3 was 3.4 +/- 0.2, 12.8 +/- 1.2, and 6.7 +/- 0.7 min, respectively. Frequency of ileal slow waves was 11.8 +/- 0.1/min, and spike burst conduction velocity was 4.7 +/- 0.3 cm/s. A complete migrating myoelectric complex was seen in 11 of 32 tracings (34%) and had a mean duration of 24.2 +/- 2.6 min. The effects of erythromycin on myoelectric activity of the spiral colon of dairy cows were investigated in a prospective study. Four Simmental x Red-Holstein crossbred cows of similar body weight and condition with seven pairs of bipolar electrodes implanted in the intestine (one each in the distal ileum, caecum and proximal colon, and four in the spiral colon) were included. Erythromycin lactobionate (1 mg kg(-1)) and 0.9% sodium chloride solution (NaCl) were administered to each cow in a random order. Erythromycin was diluted with NaCl and both treatments were administered slowly intravenously over a period of 5 min 1 h after onset of a phase III of the bovine colonic migrating myoelectric complex (bcMMC). A 3-6-day washout period was scheduled between trials. Significant differences between the results of the treatments were observed for spike duration in phase I as well as for spike duration and duration of spiking activity during phase II of the second bcMMC, which were significantly higher after erythromycin treatment than after NaCl. These findings suggest an indirect effect of erythromycin on colonic motility in cattle.  相似文献

Eight adult conscious rams were used to characterize further the minute rhythm and to determine the role of cholinergic receptors in nervous control of this event. In chronic experiments, the myoelectrical and motor activity of the gastrointestinal tract and gallbladder were recorded. Physiological experiments were performed in fasted or non-fasted rams before, during and after feeding, and the occurrence of minute rhythm during various phases of the migrating motor myoelectric complex was observed. The pattern occurred most frequently in the small intestine, where it exhibited mostly the propagating character. It was also detectable in the ileum. In the gallbladder, the minute rhythm arrived systematically and its character was irregular, propagating, retropropagating or stationary. In all episodes observed, it was well correlated with that in the small intestine. In the pyloric antrum, the minute rhythm was identified occasionally. During pharmacological experiments, 0.15 M NaCl or graded doses of hexamethonium, atropine and pirenzepine were administered intravenously during various phases of the migrating motor myoelectric complex, in fasted and non-fasted animals, before and during feeding. The drugs inhibited the minute rhythm in the small bowel for a longer period than in the gallbladder. However, the smallest dose of pirenzepine (0.02 mg/kg) exerted a non-significant effect both in the small intestine and in the gallbladder. It is concluded, that in normal conditions the minute rhythm occurs regularly in the entire small intestine and in the gallbladder. In the small intestine the pattern is organized more precisely. The minute rhythm is controlled by nicotinic receptors and by muscarinic receptor subtypes.  相似文献

The relationship between ileal and colonic electromyographic motility patterns were investigated in six awake cats chronically fitted with subserosal electrodes implanted in the smooth muscles of the ileum and colon. Smooth muscle electrical activity (electromyogram) was recorded in both fed and fasted conditions under a 12-12 hours dark-light schedule. It consisted of electrical long spike bursts having two different patterns for each condition. Short sequences of three to five long spike bursts were propagated either aborally or orally from any part of the colon; they were most frequent during the interdigestive or fasting period and no relationship was observed between these long spike bursts and the electrical activity of the ileum. During the digestive or feeding period, the colonic activity was organized in long sequences of 10-15 long spike bursts, termed migrating spike bursts, which started near the caecal junction and propagated aborally to the distal colon. These migrating spike bursts were correlated with the ileal motility. This relationship demonstrated between ileum and colon after feeding is dependent upon the amount of food intake.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the role of nitric oxide (NO) synthase isoforms (nNOS, eNOS, and iNOS) in the regulation of the migrating motor complex (MMC) in sheep using electromyography and their expression in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract by Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry. Intravenous administration of L-NAME or the nNOS inhibitor 7-nitroindazole (7-NI) decreased the MMC interval. Myoelectric activity of intestinal phase II was increased, whereas antral activity was reduced. These effects were blocked by L-arginine. Inhibitors of either iNOS (aminoguanidine and S-methylisothiourea) or eNOS (L-NIO) were ineffective. The NO donor sodium nitroprusside decreased GI myoelectric activity, inhibited the MMC pattern, and prevented the effects induced by L-NAME and 7-NI in the intestine. Intracerebroventricular administration of these agents did not modify GI motility. In the rumen, abomasal antrum, duodenum, and jejunum, WB showed three bands at about 155, 145, and 135kDa corresponding to nNOS, and a 140-kDa band (eNOS); however iNOS was not detected. Positive nNOS immunostaining was observed in neurons of the myenteric and submucous plexus of all GI tissues, while eNOS was found in the endothelial cells, ruminal and intestinal epithelium, as well as in some enteric neurons and in endocrine-like cells of the duodenal Brunner's glands. In contrast, only weak iNOS immunoreactivity was found in ruminal epithelium. Taken together, our results suggest that NO, synthesized at a peripheral level by nNOS, is tonically inhibiting the MMC pattern and intestinal motility in sheep.  相似文献

Abstract

AIM: To document the efficacy of five commercially available mydriatics for their potential for diagnostic and therapeutic use in Angora goats.

METHODS: Over 8 weeks, the mydriatic effects of 1% tropicamide, 2% homatropine, 1% cyclopentolate, 1% atropine and 0.25% hyoscine were evaluated. Given as block treatments, drugs were applied randomly to one eye of 10 Angora goats, and the contralateral eye served as a control. Vertical and horizontal pupil diameters were measured to document onset ofeffect, time to reach a difference of 5 mm in the vertical/horizontal pupil diameter between eyes, time to maximum pupillary dilation, and duration of mydriatic action.

RESULTS: Onset of mydriasis for all drugs occurred within 15 minutes. Time to reach a difference of 5 mm in the vertical pupil diameter between eyes was shortest for 1% tropicamide and 0.25% hyoscine (0.5 h), then 2% homatropine and 1% atropine (0.75 h), and longest for 1% cyclopentolate (1.5 h). The maximum vertical pupillary dilation occurred earliest with 1% tropicamide and 1% atropine (2 h), followed by 0.25% hyoscine (3 h), 2% homatropine (4 h), and latest with 1% cyclopentolate (8 h). The duration of vertical dilation of the pupil was shortest with 1% tropicamide (6 h), then 2% homatropine (12 h), 1% cyclopentolate (12 h), 1% atropine (24 h), and longest for 0.25% hyoscine (96 h).

The time to reach maximum horizontal dilation of the pupil in treated eyes was shortest with 1% cyclopentolate (1 h), followed by 1% tropicamide (1.5 h), 0.25% hyoscine (3 h), 2% homatropine (3.5 h), and 1% atropine (4 h). The duration of horizontal pupil dilation was shortest with 1% tropicamide (4.5 h), and longest with 0.25% hyoscine (48 h).

CONCLUSION: All five mydriatics induced clinical dilation. Tropicamide (1%) had the shortest duration of effect, but gave incomplete dilation. Good dilation was achieved with 1% cyclopentolate and 2% homatropine, but took too long to reach maximum dilation for routine mydriasis. The largest vertical dilation of the pupil was achieved with 1% atropine and 0.25% hyoscine, but pupils remained dilated for more than 24 h.

CLINICAL RELEVANCE: For routine mydriasis in goats, it is recommended that 1% tropicamide be used, though there may be incomplete dilation. For a longer duration of mydriasis, such as in the treatment of anterior uveitis, 1% atropine or 0.25% hyoscine would be the drugs of choice.  相似文献

Reasons for performing study: Bradycardia may be implicated as a cause of cardiovascular instability during anaesthesia. Hypothesis: Hyoscine would induce positive chronotropism of shorter duration than atropine, without adversely impairing intestinal motility in detomidine sedated horses. Methods: Ten minutes after detomidine (0.02 mg/kg bwt, i.v.), physiological saline (control), atropine (0.02 mg/kg bwt) or hyoscine (0.2 mg/kg bwt) were randomly administered i.v. to 6 horses, allowing one week intervals between treatments. Investigators blinded to the treatments monitored cardiopulmonary data and intestinal auscultation for 90 min and 24 h after detomidine, respectively. Gastrointestinal transit was assessed for 96 h via chromium detection in dry faeces. Results: Detomidine significantly decreased heart rate (HR) and cardiac index (CI) from baseline for 30 and 60 min, respectively (control). Mean ± s.d. HR increased significantly 5 min after atropine (79 ± 5 beats/min) and hyoscine (75 ± 8 beats/min). After this time, HR was significantly higher after atropine in comparison to other treatments, while hyoscine resulted in intermediate values (lower than atropine but higher than controls). Hyoscine and atropine resulted in significantly higher CI than controls for 5 and 20 min, respectively; but this effect coincided with significant hypertension (mean arterial pressures >180 mmHg). Auscultation scores decreased from baseline in all treatments. Time to return to auscultation scores ≥12 (medians) did not differ between hyoscine (4 h) and controls (4 h) but atropine resulted in significantly longer time (10 h). Atropine induced colic in one horse. Gastrointestinal transit times did not differ between treatments. Conclusion: Hyoscine is a shorter acting positive chronotropic agent than atropine, but does not potentiate the impairment in intestinal motility induced by detomidine. Because of severe hypertension, routine use of anticholinergics combined with detomidine is not recommended. Potencial relevance: Hyoscine may represent an alternative to atropine for treating bradycardia.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To describe the effects of an abrupt increase of concentrates in the diet of dairy cows on myoelectric activity of the spiral colon and on fermentation patterns in the rumen and large intestine. ANIMALS: 6 healthy lactating Simmental x Red-Holstein cows. PROCEDURES: The diet of 6 cows implanted with bipolar electrodes in the spiral colon was changed from hay only to a ration of 50% hay:50% starch-rich concentrates during a period of 60 hours. Myoelectric activity of the spiral colon, concentrations of absolute and undissociated volatile fatty acids (VFA), and pH of ruminal and large intestinal contents were monitored before, during, and after the dietary change. RESULTS: Significant changes in patterns of myoelectric activity of the spiral colon were restricted to phases III and IV of the bovine migrating myoelectric complex and to propagation velocity. Significant alterations were not observed in pH or VFA concentrations in ruminal fluid, but pH decreased and VFA concentrations increased significantly in fecal specimens after the change of diet. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Although rumen fluid is of limited value for measurement of certain indicators of fermentation, fecal samples can be used for measurement of pH and VFA concentrations, which serve as indicators of fermentation patterns in the large intestine. Increased concentrations of VFA and low pH in large intestinal digesta have a minimal influence on myoelectric activity of the spiral colon. Increased luminal VFA concentrations are unlikely to play an important role in the etiopathogenesis of motility disorders of the large intestine in cattle.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To describe myoelectric activity of the spiral colon in healthy cows. ANIMALS: 7 lactating Simmental X Red-Holstein crossbred cows. PROCEDURE: Cows were implanted with 7 pairs of bipolar silver electrodes (4 in the spiral colon and 1 each in the cecum, distal part of the ileum, and proximal loop of the ascending colon [PLAC]). Myo-electric activity was recorded during 4 days for each cow. Patterns were analyzed, using computer-based methods. RESULTS: Myoelectric activity of the spiral colon was closely associated with motility of the ileum and PLAC and showed the typical organization of migrating myoelectric complexes (MMC). The MMC in the bovine spiral colon (bcMMC) had a mean +/- SD duration of 188.6 +/- 30.8 minutes and was divided into 4 phases. Phases I and II lasted 11.3 +/- 1.4 and 159.4 +/- 33.3 minutes, respectively. Phase III (duration, 5.4 +/- 1.2 minutes) was characterized by 5.2 +/- 0.9 regular spindles (35.4 +/- 5.4 seconds) and 1 final elongated spindle (137.2 +/- 56.4 seconds). Phase III most commonly (73.8 +/- 16.1%) was followed by phase IV (duration, 173 +/- 3.6 minutes). Propagation velocity of phase III was 4.4 +/- 0.5 cm/min, and 13.6% of bcMMC were incompletely propagated through the spiral colon. CONCLUSIONS: Myoelectric activity of the bovine spiral colon is composed of a recurring cyclic pattern similar to MMC of the small intestine. Data of colonic myoelectric activity in healthy cows will serve as a basis for studies on cecal dilatation and dislocation in cattle.  相似文献

Anticholinergic drugs are commonly given as preanaesthetic medication to reduce secretions and bradycardia. In this trial, clinical cases were given atropine, hyoscine or glycopyrrolate on a logarithmic dose scale. Another group was not given any anticholinergic agent. Anaesthesia was induced with thiopentone and maintained with halothane in oxygen and nitrous oxide. All the anticholinergic drugs decreased salivation although there was also a small fall in salivation in the control group. Pulse rates rose on induction and fell over the course of anaesthesia in the control group but the mean pulse rates did not fall below the normal range. Atropine and hyoscine produced a tachycardia followed by a fall in pulse rate similar to the control group during anaesthesia. Glycopyrrolate maintained the pulse at the same level throughout. In view of the disadvantages of tachycardia, glycopyrrolate is probably the anticholinergic agent of choice when such a drug is indicated.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of mechanically induced duodenal distension (DD) and lorglumide (CCK1 receptor antagonist) premedication on electrical activity of various parts of gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the blood plasma cortisol level in sheep. The influence of lorglumide on the unfavourable effects of duodenal distension (performed with a balloon filled with water--40 and 80 ml; DD40 and DD80) was investigated in this study. These effects in sheep were as follows: the atony of forestomachs and abomasum and the transitory stimulation of myoelectrical activity of small intestine and distal parts of large intestine. The animals, under general anaesthesia, had electrodes inserted into the muscular layers of the organ, the duodenal fistula and (in another group of animals) also the ruminal fistula. Five minute duodenal distension (DD40 and DD80) caused an immediate and complete inhibition of the frequency of spike bursts as well as reticulo-ruminal and abomasal contractions, but also a transitory significant increase of spike bursts of the intestinal wall. The duodenal distension (DD40 and DD80) caused a significant increase of plasma cortisol concentration. Lorglumide did not significantly change the motility of gastrointestinal tract and cortisol concentration, but 10 min after the intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) infusion in the doses of 1 and 2 mg in toto (i.e. 25 and 50 micrograms/kg B.W.) it decreased the cortisol concentration by 59.7%, as compared with the control values. Lorglumide administered in the above mentioned doses 10 min before the DD40 prevented all signs of intestinal stress and decreased the release of cortisol, but only for 10 min since the beginning of the duodenal distension. It is concluded, that lorglumide--an antagonist of the central CCK1 receptors can be an effective antistressoric agent in the stomach atony caused by the duodenal distension (mechanical-algetic-emotional stress) in sheep.  相似文献

The effect of atropine, glycopyrrolate, metoclopramide and cisapride on the antral motility was investigated in eight dogs (four Beagles and four Labradors) using passive telemetry. Both anticholinergics induced a pronounced and lasting reduction of the intensity and frequency of the contractions. A definite dose-related inhibition of the antral motility was seen in Beagles, similar for both active substances. Low doses of atropine (0.02 mg/kg BW i.m.) and glycopyrrolate (0.005 mg/kg BW i.m.) completely inhibited the gastric motility for at least 30 min, whereas higher doses (0.04 or 0.01 mg/kg BW) caused a cessation of activity for more than 3 h. In Labradors, the effects of both active substances were not so dose related and the effect of glycopyrrolate lasted at least 6 h, whereas the effect of atropine gradually decreased after 3 h. A distinct breed difference regarding the effect of the two prokinetics on the antral motility was also observed. In Beagles, the prokinetics, at a low dose (metoclopramide 0.3 mg/kg BW, cisapride 0.2 mg/kg BW), resulted in a significant increase in the amplitude integral. Higher doses (metoclopramide 0.6 mg/kg BW, cisapride 0.5 mg/kg BW) also increased the integrals of the pressure profiles, but significantly less than with the lower doses. In Labradors, both medications, mainly at higher doses, resulted in an increase of the contraction amplitudes. The low dose had no (cisapride) or only a transient effect (metoclopramide). The frequency of the antral contractions was not at all influenced by cisapride, and only in Beagles metoclopramide resulted in a dose-related increase. It is not clear if the different results in Labradors and Beagles are because of breed or body weight.  相似文献

Effects of xylazine HCl (0.5 mg/kg of body weight, IV) and/or butorphanol tartrate (0.04 mg/kg, IV) or neostigmine methylsulfate (0.022 mg/kg, IV) on myoelectric activity of the cecum and right ventral colon were studied in 4 conscious female ponies. Eight bipolar Ag/AgCl electrodes were sequentially placed on the seromuscular layer of the cecum (6 electrodes) and right ventral colon (2 electrodes). Recordings began 30 minutes before and continued for 90 minutes after drug administration. Each drug or drug combination was studied on 2 occasions in each pony. Two major patterns of coordinated spike bursts were identified. A series of coordinated spike bursts began at the cecal base and was conducted to the cecal apex (pattern I). A series of coordinated spike bursts began at the cecal apex, traversed the cecum, cecocolic orifice, and right ventral colon and was termed a progressive pattern (pattern II). Xylazine administration caused a significant decrease in patterns I and II for 20 minutes (P less than 0.05). Butorphanol tartrate administration caused a significant decrease in the progressive pattern for 10 minutes (P less than 0.05) without affecting the orally directed pattern. Administration of the combination of xylazine/butorphanol significantly decreased the frequency of pattern I for 40 minutes (P less than 0.05) and pattern II for 30 minutes (P less than 0.05). Neostigmine administration caused a significant increase in the frequency of pattern II for 30 minutes (P less than 0.05) without affecting pattern I (P greater than 0.05). Changes in conduction velocity of pattern I or II or the duration of spiking activity were not significantly different because of any treatment.  相似文献

Recordings of electrical activity of six different areas of the uterus were obtained from two pregnant cows before and after delivery of their calves. Periods of activity occurred as spike bursts of potentials which occupied 52% of the recording time before delivery and 92% at the expulsive phase. The mean duration of the bursts was nearly doubled in the last ten hours prior to parturition without changes in their frequency. After delivery, the activity of the uterus occupied 25% of the recording time and consisted of long-lasting periods of spike bursts whose frequency was nearly halved.The alternation of periods of activity and quiescence represents the basic motility pattern of the pregnant uterus. Periods of quiescence are shortened at the time of expulsion and become predominant in the empty uterus, a phenomenon paralleled by changes in the temporal organisation of the number of spike bursts with the periods of activity.  相似文献
