The Central Agricultural and Forestry Library, which is a part of the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information for Agriculture in Prague, Czechoslovakia, is one of the largest agricultural libraries in the world. The users of the library include students, scientists, research workers, and farmers. The library services consist of loans, reprographic services, bibliographic services as well as bibliographic publications. A project on the automation of the library is currently underway. With respect to the present changing conditions in Czechoslovakia, the library concentrates its information sources on the development of the private sector within Czechoslovak agriculture. 相似文献

This article presents current efforts by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and the challenges and opportunities of gathering contemporary and historical federal dietary guidance publications into a digital collection. It begins with the history of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrition research and its promotion of dietary recommendations. The article then discusses the background of this digital project, its audience, and its stakeholders. It examines NAL's strategies for collecting digital content and promoting the collection and concludes with implications for other research libraries undertaking similar projects. 相似文献

The Matica Srpska, a society for cultural promotion, was founded in 1826 in Budapest. In the society, a gallery, a publishing house, a library, and a museum were formed. The Matica Srpska Library (MSL) was moved to Novi Sad, Yugoslavia, in 1864. The Library is one of eight Yugoslav national libraries serving as depository libraries. MSL is well known for its valuable collection of old and rare books and newspapers. Since Yugoslavia does not have a national agricultural library, the Yugoslav part of the international AGRIS database is produced in the MSL. MSL contributes to JUBIB, a Yugoslav bibliographic database. 相似文献

ABSTRACT The goal of this study was to determine the international impact of publications from a variety of institutes of parasitology and to evaluate sources for research in order to improve collection development decisions. Two methods were developed: a method of providing academic librarians with information on the relative impact of their institution when compared with other similar institutions and a method for comparing research sources on an international level. Using articles indexed in ISI Web of Science, twelve parasitology research centers from five countries were compared over a five-year period for number of publications produced and times each of the journal articles was cited. 相似文献

外文农业科技期刊在经二次文献数据加工后,存在着部分时效性信息未得到有效地利用的情况。对时效性信息进行开发利用,满足读者对外文期刊信息的多方面需求,是国家农业图书馆亟待解决的问题。在分析该馆馆藏外文期刊的时效性信息含量的基础上,提出了通过建立时效性信息数据库,同时结合网络揭示,个性化定制推送服务等方式对外文期刊的时效性信息进行开发利用,以期进一步提高国家农业图书馆馆藏外文期刊的利用效率。 相似文献

ABSTRACT In the allocation of collection resources, it is important to have a good understanding of the teaching, instruction and research needs of faculty and graduate students. Data related to the use of electronic databases, journals, books, etc. is helpful; however, this data does not reflect the nature and impact of the information retrieved, but merely provides a general idea of the number of times items have been searched, retrieved or borrowed. By identifying and analyzing faculty and graduate students' publications and grant proposals to determine where researchers are publishing and what sources they are citing in their research, the Library can assess how well it is supplying a core of literature to meet research needs. To this end, this study analyzes the publication and citation patterns of food science faculty at the University of Arkansas for a fourteen-year period, 1990–2003. The findings show that faculty are using and citing materials ranging from 1 to 22 years old and that 85 titles account for only 13.67% of the total journals cited but for 77.75% of the citations. It is assumed that these 85 titles constitute the core journal titles for food science research. 相似文献

为全面直观了解全球农田土壤重金属污染钝化修复研究进展和发展趋势,本文基于Web of Science(简称WoS)核心合集数据库利用WoS数据库自带分析工具、HistCite引文图谱分析软件和VOSviewer可视化分析软件,从发文量或被引频次TOP10的国家、研究机构、作者、期刊、研究热点等方面对1990―2019年发表的农田土壤重金属污染钝化修复文献进行计量分析。结果表明,世界范围内农田土壤重金属钝化修复领域年度发文量呈逐渐增长的趋势,发文量前三的国家是中国、美国和西班牙,中国的发文量远超其他国家,占比28.79%;发文机构主要是中国科学院、西班牙高等科学研究委员会、中国科学院大学、佛罗里达大学和浙江大学等,其中中国科学院发文量和被引频次均为最高,在该领域具有显著的科研水平和影响力;主要期刊有Environmental Science and Pollution Research、Chemosphere、Science of the Total Environment和Journal of Hazardous Materials等;目前应用较多的钝化剂主要是污泥、生物质炭、赤泥、堆肥、磷酸盐、石灰、废弃物等,关注的重金属主要是镉、铅、铜、锌、砷等,主要侧重于重金属的生物有效性。 相似文献

This article outlines the history of the Doris S. Kirschner Cookbook Collection at the University of Minnesota's Magrath Library and details a survey of this collection's users. Because the collection does not circulate, the survey was undertaken to find out some information about who uses this collection and why. Respondents to the survey consisted of primarily University of Minnesota staff and their uses of the collection were varied, encompassing personal, academic, and creative uses. This article describes the digitization of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station publications. This collection forms part of the United States Agricultural Information Network (USAIN) National Preservation Program for Agricultural Literature and the State and Local Literature Preservation Projects that are similar in scope to Cornell's Core Historic Literature of Agriculture digital collection. These are nationwide projects that seek to preserve scholarly literature in agriculture.
