In this paper, effects of dietary methylmercury (MeHg) on several blood biochemical parameters including GLU (glucose), LDH
(lactate dehydrogenase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase), ALT (alanine aminotransferase), ALP (alkaline phosphatase) and
cortisol were investigated in the Beluga sturgeon (Huso huso). Beluga juveniles were fed for 32 days on four diets containing MeHg (control: 0.04 mg kg−1; low: 0.76 mg kg−1; medium: 7.88 mg kg−1; and high 16.22 mg kg−1 treatment). Significant increases (P < 0.05) were observed in all biochemical parameters, except ALP levels, which decreased significantly (P < 0.05) compared to the control group with either dose- or time-dependent effects. These results suggest that long-term dietary
MeHg exposure may affect metabolic enzyme activity and glucose levels in Belugas. These findings provide useful information
for environmental and fishery officials to apply in future decisions for managing fish resources in Caspian Sea. 相似文献

An 15 week two set of feeding experiments were conducted to determine the dietary niacin requirement of Indian major carp
fingerlings Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala, using casein gelatin–based diet. In both experiments, six isonitrogenous (40%) and isoenergetic (15.35 kJ g−1) test diet, with graded levels of niacin (0–50 mg kg−1 dry diet) in gradation of 10 mg kg−1 dry diet, were formulated. In first experiment, fingerling of L. rohita (4.20 ± 1.22 cm; 0.632 ± 0.67 gm) were randomly stocked, in triplicate groups, in 55-L indoor polyvinyl flow-through system
(1.5 L min−1) and fed experimental diet at 0800 and 1600 h. Maximum live weight gain (1214%), feed conversion ratio (1.55) and protein
efficiency ratio (1.60) were recorded at 30 mg dietary niacin diet. In second experiment, C. mrigala (4.50 ± 1.25 cm, 0.665 ± 0.88) were stocked in same setup. At the end of experiments, maximum live weight gain (1248%), FCR
(1.47) and PER (1.70) occurred at 30 mg dietary niacin diet. However, the weight gain, FCR and PER data were analyzed by polynomial
regression analysis indicating the requirement of niacin for L. rohita at 36.69, 33.06 and 32.0 mg kg−1, respectively, and for C. mrigala at 35.19, 28.69 and 27.70 mg kg−1 of dry diet, respectively. Whole body composition also showed significant (P < 0.05) differences among each other. On the basis of regression analysis of growth data, it is recommended that the diet
for fingerlings should contain niacin at 33 and 30 mg kg−1 dry diet for L. rohita and C. mrigala, respectively. 相似文献

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary chromium picolinate supplement on growth and haematology
parameters of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idellus. Six diets with increasing dietary chromium picolinate levels 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6 and 3.2 mg kg−1 were fed to triplicate groups of 20 fish (initial weight of 12.78 ± 1.16 g, mean ± SD) in a flow water system for 10 weeks.
Fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 had significantly improved weight gain (WG), feed efficiency ratio (FER), protein efficiency ratio (PER) and protein retention
(PR). Fish fed high-chromium diets exhibited lower whole-body crude lipid contents than fish fed low-chromium diets. Liver
glycogen concentrations for fish fed the diet with 0.2 mg Cr kg−1 was the highest (77.67 mg g−1). Fish fed the diet supplemented with 1.6 and 3.2 mg Cr kg−1 had significantly lower liver glycogen concentrations than other groups (P < 0.05). The highest serum insulin concentrations were observed in fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1, but serum insulin concentrations decreased (P < 0.05) when dietary supplementation of chromium was higher than 0.8 mg Cr kg−1. Cholesterol concentrations decreased in direct proportion to dietary chromium level and achieved the lowest level when the
fish were fed the 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 diet, but increased when the fish were fed the diet with more than 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 (P < 0.05). Fish fed the diet supplemented with 0.8 mg Cr kg−1 had higher triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations compared to other treatments. The
results of the present study suggested that chromium picolinate could modify serum carbohydrate and lipid metabolism profile,
and that the optimal dietary chromium level was 0.8 mg kg−1 for grass carp according to growth. 相似文献

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a very potent antioxidant derived from green tea, was compared with vitamin E in terms
of its effects on antioxidant defense and immune response of rainbow trout, by means of a feeding trial of eight weeks. Two
of the experimental diets were supplemented with EGCG at either 20 or 100 mg kg−1 diet (which contained only 30% of the intended levels) and the third was provided with 100 mg kg−1 vitamin E but not EGCG. The control diet was not supplemented with the test components. Observation of tissue levels indicated
that the high amount of EGCG helped to increase the availability of the lipid-soluble antioxidant vitamin E. The lower levels
of lipid hydroperoxide in the liver of fish fed the higher amount of EGCG suggested that it was an effective antioxidant.
Considering the immune indices, EGCG and vitamin E at 100 mg (actual amounts 31.9 and 94.1 mg kg−1 diet, respectively) had identical capabilities in improving phagocytic activity and controlling hydrogen peroxide production
by leucocytes. However, EGCG could possibly be more effective at enhancing serum lysozyme activity and the alternative complement
activity. This work revealed the potential of EGCG as an antioxidant and an immunostimulant for rainbow trout, at least at
the inclusion level of 32 mg kg−1 diet. 相似文献

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted in a flow-through system (1–1.5 L min−1) at 27°C to determine dietary protein requirement for Channa punctatus fingerlings (4.58 ± 0.29 g) by feeding six isocaloric diets (18.39 kJ g−1, gross energy). Diets containing graded levels of protein (300, 350, 400, 450, 500 and 550 g kg−1) were fed to triplicate groups of fish to apparent satiation at 09:00 and 16:00 h. Maximum absolute weight gain (AWG; 8.11 g
fish−1), specific growth rate (SGR; 1.82%) and best feed conversion ratio (FCR; 1.48) were recorded in fish fed diet containing
450 g kg−1 protein, whereas protein efficiency ratio (PER; 1.52), protein retention efficiency (PRE; 25%), energy retention efficiency
(ERE; 78%) and RNA/DNA ratio (3.01) were maximum for the group fed dietary protein at 400 g kg−1. Second-degree polynomial regression analysis of AWG, SGR and FCR data against varying levels of dietary protein yielded
optimum dietary protein requirement of fingerling between 462.24 and 476.72 g kg−1, whereas the regression analysis of PER, PRE, ERE and RNA/DNA ratio data showed a lower protein requirement of 438.28–444.43 g kg−1 of the diet. Considering the PER, PRE, ERE and RNA/DNA ratio as more reliable indicators, this protein requirement is recommended
for developing quality protein commercial feeds for C. punctatus fingerlings. 相似文献

Aquatic weeds are one of the major unconventional feed ingredients tested for aquafeed formulation. Tannin content in the
water lettuce, Pistia, has been quantified (26.67 mg g−1; dry weight) and graded levels of which (12.5–200 μg) have been incorporated in the reaction mixtures to evaluate any change
in the in vitro activity of the principal digestive enzymes from the three Indian major carps (IMC), namely rohu (Labeo rohita), catla (Catla catla) and mrigala (Cirrhinus mrigala). Result of the experiment revealed that the Pistia tannin (PT) significantly inhibit/lower the activities of the digestive enzymes from three IMCs in a dose-dependant manner,
even at very low concentration. Significant variation in the reduction of the enzyme activities was noticed between the three
fish species, as well as between the three enzymes studied. Among the three species studied, digestive enzymes from L. rohita were found to be the most sensitive to the PT, whereas enzymes from C. catla were found to be comparatively least affected. On the other hand, protease and lipase activities were comparatively more
affected than the amylase activity. The results of the study suggest that more stress should be given on the elimination of
tannin while incorporating feed ingredients of plant origin in fish diets. 相似文献

The effects of ration levels on growth, conversion efficiencies and body composition of fingerling Heteropneustes fossilis (6.8 ± 0.04 cm, 5.0 ± 0.02 g) were studied by feeding isonitrogenous (40% crude protein) and isocaloric (19.06 MJ kg−1 gross energy) diets representing 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9% of the body weight (BW) day−1 to triplicate groups of fish . Growth performance of the fish fed at the various ration levels was evaluated on the basis
of live weight gain percentage (LWG%), feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate percentage (SGR%), protein retention
efficiency (PRE%) and energy retention efficiency (ERE%) data. Maximum LWG% and SGR were obtained at a feeding rate of 7% BW day−1, whereas best FCR (1.6), PRE% and ERE% were recorded at a feeding rate of 5% BW day−1. Maximum body protein was also obtained for the group receiving the diet representing 5% of their body weight. However, a
linear increase in fat content was noted with the increase in ration levels up to 7% BW day−1. The SGR, FCR, PRE and ERE data were also analyzed using second-degree polynomial regression analysis to obtain more precise
information on ration level, with the results showing that the optimal ration for these parameters was 6.8, 6.1, 5.9 and 6.2% BW day−1, respectively. Based on the above second-degree polynomial regression analysis, the optimum ration level for better growth,
conversion efficiencies and body composition of fingerling H. fossilis was found to be in the range of 5.9–6.8% of the BW day−1, corresponding to 2.36–2.72 g protein and 88.20–101.66 MJ digestible energy kg−1 diet day−1. 相似文献

Recently, there have been reports of increasing amounts of mercury (Hg) in muscles of beluga (Huso huso, Brandet 1869) in the Caspian Sea which exceeds its guideline level for food in the UK. Our intensive effort was to investigate
the effects of dietary methylmercury (MeHg) on Beluga bioenergetics. Beluga juveniles were fed with four diets containing
MeHg (control: 0.04 mg kg−1; low: 0.76 mg kg−1; medium: 7.88 mg kg−1; and high: 16.22 mg kg−1) for 70 days. There were significant differences in food consumption among the treatment groups. After 42 days, all individuals
of the high dose died. After 35 and 70 days, all treatment groups (low, medium and high) showed a significant decline in their
growth rate, unlike the control group. They also showed considerable lower specific growth rates (SGR) comparing to the control
group. All treatment groups assimilated the dietary MeHg into their muscle tissue in a dose-dependent manner. Assimilation
percent was significant among the treatment groups at days 35 and 70, but it was lower in the first 35 days than in the second
35 days. The data obtained from the dietary MeHg concentration and bioaccumulation rates were modeled for better natural resources

The effect of prebiotic xylooligosaccharides (XOS) on the growth performance and digestive enzyme activities of the allogynogenetic
crucian carp, Carassius auratus gibelio, was investigated. XOS was added to fish basal semi-purified diets at three concentrations by dry feed weight: diet 1, 50 mg kg−1; diet 2, 100 mg kg−1; diet 3, 200 mg kg−1, respectively. Twelve aquaria (n = 20) with three replicates for each treatment group (diets 1–3) and control treated without XOS were used. Weights of all
collected carp from each aquarium were determined at the initial phase and at the end of the experiment, and the carp survival
was also determined by counting the individuals in each aquarium. After 45 days, there were significant differences (P < 0.05) in the relative gain rate (RGR), and daily weight gain (DWG) of diets 1–3 were compared with the control. However,
the survival rate was not affected (P > 0.05) by the dietary treatments. For enzymatic analysis, dissection produced a crude mixture of intestine and hepatopancreas
of each segment to measure. The protease activity in the intestine and hepatopancreas content of fish in diet 2 (487.37 ± 20.58 U g−1 and 20.52 ± 1.93 U g−1) were significantly different (P < 0.05) from that in the control (428.13 ± 23.26 U g−1 and 12.81 ± 1.52 U g−1) and diet 3 (428.00 ± 23.78 U g−1 and 14.04 ± 1.59 U g−1). Amylase activity in the intestine was significantly higher for diet 2 compared to diet 1 and the control. As for amylase

The compatibility of olive barb, Puntius sarana (Hamilton) with major carps was studied in grow-out carp polyculture system for one year in a set of nine earthen ponds of 0.08 ha each. Three different species combinations evaluated were Control: catla (Catla catla Ham.), silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix Valenciennes), rohu (Labeo rohita Hamilton) and mrigal (Cirrhinus mrigala Hamilton) at 0.5:0.5:1:1; T1: catla, silver carp, rohu and olive barb at 0.5:0.5:1:1 and T2: catla, silver carp, mrigal and olive barb at 0.5:0.5:1:1 at combined density of 7500 fingerlings/ha. While survival levels of the carps did not differ significantly in treatments (P > 0.05), silver carp recorded highest survival levels (94–96%) followed by olive barb (87–90%), mrigal (72–74%), rohu (72–73%) and catla (67–69%). The specific growth rate (SGR) and average harvested body weight (ABW) of catla and silver carp did not differ significantly among the treatments revealing their competition with mrigal or olive barb to be minimum. In absence of rohu in T2, both mrigal and olive barb showed higher SGR and ABW revealing minimal competition between these two species, while their lower performance in presence of rohu in Control and T1 indicated inter-specific competition with the latter. Such olive barb–rohu inter-specific competition, however, failed to yield significant effect on growth of rohu as revealed from its non-significant SGR difference in presence and absence of olive barb. The lower FCR (2.54 ± 0.06) and higher treatment biomass production (3418.4 ± 95.0 kg ha− 1 year− 1) in T1 with rohu–olive barb combination compared to T2 with mrigal–olive barb (2.84 ± 0.11; 3155.1 ± 104.7 kg ha− 1 year− 1) indicated feasibility and advantage of culturing rohu with olive barb rather than mrigal in carp polyculture. Further, similar biomass production in Control and T1 also indicated feasibility of replacing mrigal with olive barb in the grow-out carp polyculture system. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) supplemented in diet on the innate cellular immune response and disease resistance in grouper, Epinephelus malabaricus. Fish were fed diets containing different doses of ASP (0, 500 and 3,000 mg kg−1 diet) for 12 weeks. After 12 week feeding, the respiratory burst activity, phagocytic activity, and leukocytes proliferation
in head kidney were assayed. The functional immunity in terms of cumulative mortality was also assessed by a challenge with
live Edwardsiella tarda. Results showed that the respiratory burst activities in ASP-supplemented groups were increased significantly. The respiratory
burst index was the highest in fish-fed 3000 mg kg−1 diet and the lowest in control. The phagocytic activities in ASP-supplemented groups were significantly higher than that
of control. No significant difference in phagocytic activity was observed between ASP-supplemented groups. ASP stimulated
the head kidney leukocytes proliferation significantly, despite the absence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or not. The cumulative
mortalities of fish fed with 3000 mg ASP kg−1 diet were significantly lower than those fed with 500 mg ASP kg−1 diet and control diet after 96 h of challenge. In conclusion, dietary ASP enhanced some cellular immune parameters and disease

Two gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) isoforms were identified in the beluga (Huso huso) brain by cDNA sequencing: prepro-mammalian GnRH (mGnRH) and prepro-chicken GnRH-II (cGnRH-II). The nucleotide sequences
of the beluga mGnRH and cGnRH-II precursors are 273 and 258 base pairs (bp) long, encoding peptides of 91 and 86 amino acids,
respectively. To investigate the effect of methylmercury (MeHg) on GnRH gene expression, animals were fed with four diets
containing increasing levels of MeHg (0 mg kg−1 [control]; 0.76 mg kg−1 [low]; 7.8 mg kg−1 [medium]; 16.22 mg kg−1 [high]) for 32 days. The effects of MeHg on brain GnRH mRNA levels were evaluated by real-time PCR. A significant decrease
in brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNA levels were detected in fish receiving high dietary MeHg dose compared to controls on day
11 (P < 0.05). On day 18 and 32, all treatment groups had significantly lower brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNA levels compared to
the control group (P < 0.05). These findings demonstrate a disruptive role of MeHg on the level of brain mGnRH and cGnRH-II mRNAs in immature

This study evaluated the effects of three levels of loading density (200, 300 and 400 g L−1) and four levels of duration (1, 3, 6 and 9 h) on the mortality, plasma cortisol and chloride levels and growth of rohu Labeo
rohita fingerlings in a transport simulation. While total immediate mortality was low (4–12%), delayed mortality was high (27–49%).
Initial capture and handling were found to constitute the most stressful phase as indicated by elevated plasma cortisol. The
levels of cortisol continued to rise at 6 and 9 h after transport, with the highest level observed at 9 h after transport.
The level of plasma chloride fell after transport across all density levels and treatment durations. Specific growth rate
(SGR, %/day) and total bacterial density (cfu/g) were not different between and within treatments, and between treatments
and the controls. This study demonstrates that transport has a profound effect on the stress responses of rohu fingerlings.
Although the level of immediate mortality was low, the higher level of delayed mortality has serious implications in terms
of production inefficiency for grow-out farmers. 相似文献

Bacillus circulans PB7, isolated from the intestine of Catla catla, was evaluated for use as a probiotic supplement in the feeds for the fingerlings of Catla catla. The effect of supplement on the growth performance, feed utilization efficiency, and immune response was evaluated. Catla
fingerlings (ave. wt. 6.48 ± 0.43 g) were fed diets supplemented with 2 × 104 (feed C1), 2 × 105 (feed C2), and 2 × 106 (feed C3) B. circulans PB 7 cells per 100 g feed for 60 days at 5% of the body weight per day in two equal instalments in triplicate treatments.
The control feed (CC) was not supplemented with the B. circulans. All the feeds were isocaloric and isonitrogenous. Fish fed with feed C2 displayed better growth, significantly (P ≤ 0.05) highest RNA/DNA ratio, a lower feed conversion ratio (FCR), and a higher protein efficiency ratio (PER) than the
other experimental diets. Highest carcass protein and lipid was also observed in the fish fed C2 feed compared to the others.
Significantly (P ≤ 0.05), highest protease was recorded in fish fed feed C2 (47.9 ± 0.016) and lowest in fish fed feed C3 (32.10 ± 0.009),
where α-amylase activity did not differ significantly (P ≤ 0.05) beyond the lowest inclusion level. ALP, ACP, GOT, and GPT in the liver of Catla catla were the highest (P ≤ 0.05) in fish fed C2 feed. The highest TSP, albumin, and globulin was observed in fish treated with C2 feed after 60 days
feeding trial, but the lowest glucose level was observed in the same treatment. After the feeding trial, the non-specific
immunity levels and disease resistance of fish were also studied. Phagocytic ratio, phagocytic index, and leucocrit value
were the highest in fish fed feed C2. After the feeding trial, the fish were challenged for 10 days by bath exposure to Aeromonas hydrophila (AH1) (105c.f.u. ml−1 for 1 h, and, after 7 days, 107c.f.u. ml−1 for 1 h). Highest survival percentage was observed in fish fed with feed C2 compared with only 6.66% in the controls, which
indicated the effectiveness of B. circulans PB 7 in reducing disease caused by A. hydrophila. 相似文献

Amino acid composition and heavy metal concentration were examined in organic and conventional Chinese shrimp Penaeus chinensis production systems during the production cycle. The crude protein and total amino acid contents for organic shrimp samples
were 0.932 and 0.945 mg/g d.w., while they were 0.849 and 0.826 mg/g d.w., respectively, for conventionally produced samples.
The ratios of essential amino acids to nonessential amino acids in organic and conventional cultured shrimp were 0.58 and
0.63, respectively. Shrimp samples from the conventional system were significantly richer in Cu (2.28 vs. 1.53 mg kg−1), Pb (0.13 vs. 0.08 mg kg−1), Cd (0.09 vs. 0.04 mg kg−1), and Zn (9.94 vs. 8.42 mg kg−1) when compared with those obtained from the organic system. It is concluded that organic shrimp production systems can produce

Herbals such as Cynodon dactylon, Piper longum, Phyllanthus niruri, Tridax procumbens, and Zingiber officinalis were extracted with acetone, benzene, butanol, and petroleum ether and screened against the pathogen Vibrio harveyi isolated from the infected Grouper Epinephalus tauvina. Among the different solvent extractions screening to V. harveyi, petroleum ether extracts were suppressed significantly (P < 0.05). Equal proportions of the all-plant extracts were mixed with the artificial feeds at concentrations of 100, 200,
400, and 800 mg kg−1 of diet and fed to grouper juveniles of 20 ± 2 g average weight for a period of 60 days. Every 20 days, fish juveniles were
challenged with V. harveyi and the immune response was studied. The herbal diets significantly (P < 0.05) increased the survival, growth, and immune responses compared to the control group. The herbal diets were significantly
improved (P < 0.01) in immune parameters such as phagocytic activity and albumin–globulin (A–G) ratio. Among the different concentrations
of the herbals in the diet, the 400 mg kg−1 diet was the most effective in the experiment. 相似文献

We investigated the usefulness of acceleration loggers in aquaculture by examining net-cage use and metabolic rates in red
sea bream, Pagrus major. First, the fish’s metabolic rate (mg O2 kg−1 min−1) was measured with the logger in a swim tunnel at designated water velocities. We found that metabolic rate could be expressed
by using a linear regression model of the activity rate index (unitless min−1) derived from acceleration data. Using this equation, the field metabolic rates of three fish in a net cage were monitored
and were estimated at 14.1–15.0 kcal kg−1 day−1. The results suggested that 15–19% of energy from satiation feeding ration was consumed for metabolism and activity in the
net cage. The loggers showed orderly net-cage use by the fish. Tagged individuals used the whole cage from surface to bottom,
but individual fish that preferred the surface area rarely used the bottom, and vice versa. Metabolic rate increased significantly
with distance of the fish from their preferred depths. The logger provided information on the physiological and behavioral
responses of fish in a given breeding system, and its use should contribute to the design of practical aquaculture systems. 相似文献

β-1,3-Glucan at different dietary doses was administered to enhance the growth, immunity, and survival against nitrite stress
in Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei. Four different diets supplemented with 0, 250, 500, or 1,000 mg of β-1,3-glucan kg−1 diets were fed to L. vannamei. Growth performance (weight gain and survival rate), physiological conditions (blood total protein, glucose, lactate, triacylglycerols,
cholesterol levels) and immunological responses (superoxide dismutase, catalase, lysozyme, acid phosphatase, and alkaline
phosphatase activities) of shrimp were recorded after 84-day feeding and 120 h after exposed to nitrite-N. After 84-day feeding,
250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet resulted in better weight gain (P < 0.05). Before the nitrite stress, blood lactate, triacylglycerols, and cholesterol level in shrimp fed with 250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet were significantly higher than those observed in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). Higher activities of catalase, lysozyme, and alkaline phosphatase were observed in shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan diet as compared to those obtained in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). After 120-h nitrite stress, blood protein, lactate, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and alkaline phosphatase activities
in shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan were significantly higher than those observed in shrimp fed with other diets (P < 0.05). Glucose and triacylglycerol levels of shrimp fed with 500 or 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan were significantly lower than those observed in other diets (P < 0.05). In shrimp fed with 500 and 1,000 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan and 120-h after nitrite stress, the mortality was significantly lower than that observed in shrimp of control.
Together, in this 84-day feeding trial, 250 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan improved growth, whereas 500 mg kg−1 β-1,3-glucan preferentially improved nitrite resistance, probably through accelerating energy metabolism and activating immune

An 84-day feeding trial was conducted to study the effect of replacing dietary fishmeal with dried chicken viscera meal (CVM)
on the growth (net biomass gain, specific growth rate, SGR), feed acceptability, feed conversion ratio (FCR), protein efficiency
ratio (PER) and carcass composition of Clarias batrachus fingerlings. Triplicate groups of fingerlings with mean initial body weight of 13.35 g were fed on six iso-nitrogenous and
iso-lipidic diets. The control diet (CVM0) used marine by-catch fishmeal as the sole source of animal protein. In the other
five diets (CVM100–CVM500), 20–100% of fishmeal was substituted by dried CVM at 20% increments. The highest body weight gain,
SGR and PER, and the lowest FCR were observed in fish fed a diet containing 300–500 g CVM kg−1. The fish accumulated increasing quantities of lipids and decreasing levels of ash in their carcasses with increasing levels

The effect of feeding frequency (one, three, and continuous feeding), feed ration (0.2, 0.5, 0.8% of total fish biomass),
and feeding per se on the oxygen consumption (OC, mg O2 kg−1 h−1) and ammonia excretion (AE, mg TAN kg−1 h−1) of juvenile tench (body weight 15–19 g) and variations in these parameters in daily cycles were examined. Fish metabolism
was studied in a recirculating system (rearing tanks of 0.2 m3, water temperature 23 °C). It was found that oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion depended significantly on feed ration.
An increase of feed ration from 0.2 to 0.8% of fish biomass caused an increase of OC and AE from 126.80 mg O2 kg−1 h−1 and 1.95 mg TAN kg−1 h−1 to 187.35 mg O2 kg−1 h−1 and 8.80 mg TAN kg−1 h−1 (p<0.05). There was no dependence between feeding frequency and the mean rate of oxygen consumption. However, the relationship
between feeding frequency and ammonia excretion by juvenile tench was statistically significant (p<0.05). Feeding frequency significantly affected daily fluctuations of AE and OC. It was found that diurnal variations in
metabolic rates were strictly related to tench feeding, and the daily variations of AE were significantly higher than OC. 相似文献
