In recent years, flexible, mechanically strong and environmental friendly thermal insulation materials have attracted considerable attention. In this work, silica aerogel/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) nonwoven fiber composite with desirable characteristics was prepared via a two-step sol-gel process followed by an ambient drying method through immersing the PET nonwoven fiber into silica sol. The silica aerogel particles were characterized by FTIR, FE-SEM, TGA and nitrogen adsorption analysis. The morphology and hydrophobic properties of neat PET nonwoven fiber and its silica aerogel composite were also investigated. For studying thermal protective properties, the thermal diffusivity was calculated from temperature distribution curves. The mean pore size of 11 nm, the surface area of 606 m2/g and the total pore volume of 1.77 cm3/g for the silica aerogel particles in the composite are obtained from nitrogen adsorption analysis, indicating the aerogel can maintain its high porosity in the nonwoven composite structure. Silica aerogel particles were efficiently covered the surface of the PET fibers and completely filled the micron size pores of the nonwoven fiber leading to a stronger hydrophobicity and higher thermal insulation performance in the aerogel composite samples compared to the neat PET nonwoven. In this regard, an almost 64 % decrease in the thermal diffusivity was achieved with 66 wt% silica aerogel.  相似文献

Background:Bioactive glasses 58S, are silicate-based materials containing calcium and phosphate, which dissolved in body fluid and bond to the bone tissue. This type of bioactive glass is highly biocompatible and has a wide range of clinical applications. Methods:The 58S glass powders were synthesized via sol-gel methods, using tetraethyl orthosilicate, triethyl phosphate, and calcium nitrate, as precursors. Upon the analyses of phase and chemical structures of bioactive glass in different gelation times (12, 48, and 100 h), the appropriate heat treatment (at 525, 575, and 625 °C) was performed to eliminate nitrate compounds and stabilize the glass powder samples. The in vitro assay in SBF solution revealed the bioactivity of the synthesized 58S glass through the morphological (SEM), chemical structure (FTIR), release of calcium, phosphorous and silicon elements, pH variations, and weight loss measurements. The behavior of MSCs in the presence of bioactive glass powders was studied by MTT cytotoxicity, cell staining, ALP activity and biomineralization tests, as well as by the evaluation of ALP, osteocalcin, osteonectin, collagen I, and RUNX2 gene expression. Results: The results confirmed a gelation time of 100 h and a calcination temperature of 575 °C at optimal conditions for the synthesis of nitrate-free bioactive glass powders. Conclusion:The glass spherical nanoparticles in the range of 20-30 nm possess the improved bioactivity and osteogenic properties as demanded for bone tissue engineering. Field experiments were conducted on wheat during 2017–2018 and 2018–2019 under rainfed conditions. The statistical significance between treatment means was determined at 5% significance level. Data were recorded on weed density, protein, fat and ash contents of wheat grains. Weed density in shallow tillage was highest (20.67?m?2) while it was lowest (14.23?m?2) in deep tillage. In weed control factor, weed density was highest in weedy check (33.10?m?2), followed by parthenium aqueous extract (21.50?m?2), and lowest (6.79?m?2) in plots treated with Affinity (isoproturon?+?carfentrazone). Results showed that the highest crude protein content (10.88%) was recorded in deep tillage, while lowest (10.45%) in shallow tillage, indicating that tillage depths have an impact on wheat grains protein content. For weed control factor, the crude protein content was highest (11.98%) in Affinity treated plots, followed by herbicides, Buctril super (bromoxynil?+?MCPA) (11.44%) and Puma super (fenoxaprop-p-ethyl) (11.12%). Hence, the control measures also affected crude protein content of wheat grains, which is also obvious from the weedy check where wheat grains crude protein content was lowest (9.73%). The two years combined data analysis also showed the highest crude fat content (1.75%) in deep tillage treatments followed by normal tillage (1.67%) and lowest fat content (1.53%) in shallow tillage. For ash content, the highest content (3.03%) was with Affinity herbicide treatments, followed by Buctril super (2.74%) and Puma super (2.48%) herbicides. In conclusion, both the tillage and herbicides indicated positive effects on the nutritive status of wheat grains.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of onion on serum uric acid levels and hepatic Xanthine Dehydrogenase/Xanthine Oxidase activities in normal and hyperuricemic rats. Hyperuricemia was induced by intraperitoneal injection of 250 mg kg(-1) potassium oxonate in rats. Oral administration of onion at 3.5 and 7.0 mg kg(-1) day(-1) for 7 days was able to reduce serum uric acid levels in hyperuricemic rats with no significant effects on the level of this compound in the normal animals. In addition, onion when tested in vivo on rat liver homogeneities elicited significant inhibitory actions on the Xanthine Dehydrogenase (XDH) and Xanthine Oxidase (XO) activities. This effect resulted less potent than that of allopurinol. However, the hypouricemic effect observed in the experimental animal did not seem to parallel the change in XDH and XO activities, implying that the onion might be acting via other mechanisms apart from simple inhibition of enzyme activities. Such hypouricemic action and enzyme inhibitory activity of onion makes it a possible alternative for allopurinol, or at least in combination therapy to minimize the side-effects of allopurinol, in particular in long-term application.  相似文献

Three transgenic rice varieties namely Khazar, Neda and Nemat, all containing a cry1Ab gene, were evaluated through PCR analysis and field examinations for their resistance at natural infestation of insect pests during 2007. The results showed that all transgenic varieties produced 1.2 kb PCR product derived from application of cry1Ab gene. In field conditions, transgenic varieties exhibited high levels of resistance against natural infestation of stem borer and the damaged plants based on dead heart or white heat for them were less than 1%. Moreover, in stem-cut bioassay 100% of released larvae died within four days after infestation. These results demonstrate that expression of cry1Ab gene in the genome of transgenic varieties provided season-long protection from the natural infestation of lepidopteran insects.  相似文献

An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I.ELISA) is described for detection of bovine serum antibody to epizootic hemorrhagic diseases of deer virus (EHDV). Serum samples, at a dilution of 1:200, were incubated with group-specific EHDV antigens, pre-adsorbed to microtiter plates. Bound antibodies were detected by a murine monoclonal antibody to bovine immunoglobulin (Ig)G1 (heavy-chain specific) conjugated with horseradish peroxidase. The performance of the I.ELISA in detecting antibodies to EHDV in sequential serum samples from calves experimentally infected with serotypes 1,2,3 and 4 was evaluated. The I.ELISA detected EHDV antibodies from 14 days postinfection when seroconversion by the standard agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test was also evident. The group-specific antibodies to EHDV increased exponentially during the first two to four weeks postinfection and remained relatively stable for about 12 months in some calves. Unlike observations with the AGID test, no reaction was seen in the I.ELISA between blue-tongue virus (BTV) antigen and sera from calves given a single dose of EHDV. The performance of the I.ELISA and AGID were compared using 3,135 AGID negative bovine field sera from herds in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia and 130 AGID positive samples collected from cattle in 1987 and 1988 during and after outbreaks of EHD in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. The specificity and sensitivity of the assay relative to the AGID test were 99.3% and 91.5% respectively, with an overall agreement of 99.0% between the tests.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Summary Pure cultures ofCorynebacterium pseudotuberculosis were obtained from 11 cases of lymphadenitis (known locally as taloa or mala) in camels. Camel isolates produced typical taloa in camels experimentally inoculated subcutaneously at the base of the external ear with 1010 colony forming units. A sheep strain ofC. pseudotuberculosis inoculated into camels produced a local abscess at the site of inoculation but did not produce taloa. Re-infection of camels recovered from experimental inoculation did not produce taloa suggesting the possibility of the development of a vaccine against lymphadenitis in camels.

Resumen Se obtuvieron cultivos puros deCorynebacterium pseudotuberculosis a partir de 11 casos de linfadenitis (conocida localmente como taloa o mala) en camellos. La inoculación subcutánea en camellos en la base de la oreja de 1010 unidades formadoras de colonias procedentes de un cultivo obtenido de camellos infectados causó taola. Sin embargo, una cepa ovina deC. pseudotuberculosis causó un abceso en el lugar de la inoculación pero no produjo taola en camellos. La reinfección de los camellos que se habían recuperado de la inoculación experimental no causó taola, lo que sugiere la posibilidad de desarrollar una vacuna frente a la linfadenitis caseosa del camello.

Infection ACorynebacterium Pseudotuberculosis Et Lymphadenite (Taloa Ou Mala) Chez Le Chameau
Résumé On a obtenu des cultures pures deCorynebacterium pseudotuberculosis à partir de 11 cas de lymphadénite (dénommée localement taloa ou mala) chez des chameaux. L'inoculation expérimentale des isolements camelins faite en infection sous-cutanée à la base de l'oreille externe avec 1010 unités formant des colonies a provoqué un taloa typique. Une souche ovine deC. pseudotuberculosis inoculée à des chameaux n'a conduit qu'à la formation d'un abcès local au point d'inoculation mais pas au taloa. La réinfection des chameaux guéris d'une inoculation expérimentale ne provoque pas de taloa, ce qui permet d'augurer la possibilité de développement d'un vaccin contre la lymphadénite cameline.

In order to study the pathomorphology and immunohistochemistry of peste des petits ruminants, four goats and two sheep were inoculated intranasally with the Malig-Yemen strain of peste des petits ruminants virus. The animals developed fever, nasal discharge, oral erosions, cough and diarrhea. One goat and one sheep died and one moribund goat was killed. Three animals survived the infection. At necropsy, erosive stomatitis, pneumonia and gastroenteritis were found. Histopathologically the pneumonocytes and epithelial cells of the ileum had eosinophilic cytoplasmic and nuclear inclusions. By an indirect immunoperoxidase method, the nuclei and cytoplasm of the ileal epithelial cells of one goat contained positively (brown) stained antigen, which corresponded to viral nucleocapsids by electron microscopy. Virus appeared to be released through the microvilli of the epithelial cells. We also confirmed the formation of giant cells due to peste des petits ruminants virus.  相似文献

Owner survey of schitosomiasis mortality in sudanese cattle   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The estimated mortality in six- to 30-month-old cattle due to presumptive schistosomiasis was 7.1% for 155 interviews conducted in the White Nile Province in 1981. This mortality was higher for those herds under sedentary management than for migratory herds (9.4% vs 3.6%). The interviews were done through an informal visit technique by a veterinarian living in the area. The approximate number (19,000) of cattle over six months old estimated to be owned by those interviewed represents about 1% of the population in that province. The mortality from all causes in the six- to 30-month age group was 9.2%; in the over 30-month age group it was 1.8%. The authors judge the schistosomiasis mortality to be somewhat upwardly biased but the mortality due to all causes (9.2%) is consistent with the few reports available.  相似文献
