In the present study, we examined histochemically the tissue distribution of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in the acute phase of murine colitis induced by administering DSS in the drinking water. DSS was mainly observed in the Kupffer cells of the liver, in the macrophages of the mesenteric lymph node (MLN) and in the lamina propria of the large intestine after administration of DSS. We followed the time course of DSS distribution and found that DSS, which was considered as a large and negatively charged molecule that can not easily cross membranes, was distributed in the liver, the MLN, and the large intestine 1 day after the start of administration of DSS. 相似文献

Unexpected growth suppression is common in rotifer mass culturing, and bacteria present in culture tanks are believed to be one of the main causes. We used a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-amplified 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene finger-printing method to determine the bacterial community composition in water and that in association with rotifers present in tanks when rotifer growth was suppressed. Bacterial 16S rRNA genes representing Nautella sp. and Marinomonas sp. were identified as dominant in control tanks with good rotifer growth. In contrast, the bacterial community composition was more diverse at start-up in tanks where rotifer growth was suppressed. The community composition changed during rotifer cultivation, and bacterial sequences representative of Ruegeria sp. and Hyphomonas sp. were dominant when rotifer growth recovered. These findings indicate that the bacterial community composition varied according to the rotifer growth conditions and suggest that the initial microbial flora present in the culture water may cause rotifer growth suppression. 相似文献

A 3 year-old female Japanese Black cattle was diagnosed as diabetes mellitus (DM). Hyperglycemia (295 mg/dl), increase of serum fructosamine (487 micromol/l), elevated glycosylated hemoglobin A1 (GHbA1; 10.9%), low concentration of serum insulin (< 1.0 microU/ ml), increased serum glucagon (399 pg/ml), and glucose intolerance (glucose disappearance rate; k=0.53) were noted. On the histopathologic findings in pancreas, insulitis with infiltration of mononuclear cells was found. This case suggests that serum fructosamine and GHbA1 are available parameters for understanding of pathophysiological conditions of bovine DM. 相似文献

Swimming performance of jack mackerel Trachurus japonicus (18.2 ± 0.8 cm fork length (FL), n = 185) was examined in a flume tank by measuring the stride length at low and high tail beat frequencies with electromyogram monitoring and a muscle twitch experiment. Stride length was analyzed by monitoring the tail beat frequency according to the swimming speed at different temperatures of 10, 15 and 22 °C. In the electromyographic observations, the initiation of ordinary muscle activity occurred between 71.4 and 99.6 cm/s, that is 3.7 to 5.3 FL/s, when the tail beat frequency was over 6 Hz. The swimming speeds increased rectilinearly with the tail beat frequency at each water temperature both for the low and high tail beat frequency. Lower stride length was observed at the lowest temperature (10 °C) tested. The forced swimming exercise significantly affected the muscle contraction time to become longer than the control fish, which indicated a reduction of the maximum swimming speed performance. 相似文献

A rare case of complex apocrine carcinoma displaying dominant myoepithelial proliferation developed in the right leg subcutis of a 10-year-old male dog. The major cell population consisted of diffusely proliferating p63-expressing neoplastic cells that were largely myoepithelial in origin co-expressing α-smooth muscle actin. A small portion of the cell population consisted of concomitant basal epithelial cells lacking α-smooth muscle actin expression. The minor population consisted of p63-negative apocrine gland cells that expressed cytokeratin 8. The myoepithelial cell population showed a rather stronger proliferation activity than did the apocrine epithelial population. Thus, this tumor might have been derived from basal epithelial cells characterized by more predominant myoepithelial differentiation than luminal apocrine epithelial differentiation. 相似文献
