The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of the application of rice husk biochar on selected soil physical properties, rice growth, including root extension, and methane (CH4) emissions from paddy field soil. Three replication experiments were conducted using outdoor pot experiments utilizing commercial rice husk biochar mixed with paddy soil at a rate of 0 (control), 2, and 4 % (weight biochar/weight soil) in which the rice was cultivated for 100 days under a continuously flooded condition. The physical properties of soils were analyzed before and after the growing periods. Some parameters of rice growth and CH4 emissions of paddy soils were monitored weekly during the experiment. Root extension was also analyzed after harvesting. The experiments showed that the application of rice husk biochar improved the physical properties of paddy soils. It led to a decrease in bulk density and an increase in saturated hydraulic conductivity, including the total pore volume as well as the available soil water content. The shoot height of rice plants was significantly higher in soil amended with 4 % biochar than that in the control soil. However, other plant growth parameters and root extension were only slightly affected by the application. It was also found that amending soil with biochar led to a reduction of the total CH4 emissions by 45.2 and 54.9 % for an application rate of 2 and 4 %, respectively, compared with the control. Our results showed that the higher the application rate, the stronger the effect of biochar was observed. More research is still necessary for a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms.  相似文献

Hybrid incompatibility plays an important role in establishment of post-zygotic reproductive isolation. To unveil genetic basis of hybrid incompatibilities between diverged species of genus Oryza AA genome species, we conducted genetic dissection of hybrid sterility loci, S22(t), which had been identified in backcross progeny derived from Oryza sativa ssp. japonica (recurrent parent) and South American wild rice O. glumaepatula near the end of the short arm of chromosome 2. The S22(t) region was found to be composed of two loci, designated S22A and S22B, that independently induce F1 pollen sterility. Pollen grains containing either of the sterile alleles (S22A-glums or S22B-glums) were sterile if produced on a heterozygous plant. No transmission of the S22A-glums allele via pollen was observed, whereas a low frequency of transmission of S22B-glums was observed. Cytological analysis showed that the sterile pollen grains caused by S22A could reach the bicellular or tricellular stage, and the nearly-sterile pollen grains caused by S22B could reach the tricellular stage. Our genetic analysis showed repulsion linkage effect is possible to induce strong reproductive barrier by high pollen sterility based on recombination value and transmission ratio of hybrid sterility gene to the progeny was influenced by frequency of competitors on fertilization.  相似文献

To clarify whether barley beta-glucans exhibit their biological effects via binding to dectin-1, a pivotal receptor for beta-1,3-glucan, the structure of barley beta-glucan E70-S (BBG-70) was unambiguously investigated by NMR spectroscopy and studied for its binding capacity and specificity to dectin-1 by ELISA. NMR spectroscopy confirmed that BBG-70 contains two different linkage glucans, namely, alpha-glucan and beta-glucan, which are not covalently attached to one another. Beta-glucan within BBG-70 is a linear mixed-linkage beta-glucan composed of 1,3- and 1,4-beta-D-glucopyranose residues but does not contain the continuous 1,3-linkage. Competitive ELISA revealed that highly purified barley beta-glucan E70-S (pBBG-70) inhibits the binding of soluble dectin-1 to sonifilan (SPG), a beta-1,3-glucan, although at a concentration higher than that of SPG and laminarin. It was found that barley beta-glucan can be recognized by dectin-1, implying that barley beta-glucan might, at least in part, exhibit its biological effects via the recognition by dectin-1 of the ligand sugar structure, which may be formed by 1,3-beta- and 1,4-beta-glucosyl linkage.  相似文献

The taxonomic assignment of Japanese potato blackleg isolates of Dickeya spp. has not been confirmed after the changes in their former name, Erwinia chrysanthemi. Therefore, we investigated and identified 23 representative isolates of Dickeya spp. from symptomatic stems of potatoes in Japan, with biochemical tests and phylogenetic sequence analysis using recA, dnaX, rpoD, gyrB, and 16S rDNA sequences. Results of our biochemical tests showed that all isolates can be assigned to phenon 5 and biovar 1, which are associated with D. dianthicola. Based on the recA, dnaX, rpoD, gyrB, and 16S rDNA sequences, all isolates are in the same clade with D. dianthicola and were clearly distinguished from D. chrysanthemi, D. dadantii, D. dadantii subsp. dieffenbachiae, D. solani, D. zeae, and D. paradisiaca. Therefore, we conclude that Dickeya spp. isolated from potatoes with blackleg symptoms in Japan are D. dianthicola.  相似文献

We investigated the sapling leaf display in the shade among trees of various leaf lifespans co-occurring under the canopy of a warm-temperate conifer plantation. We measured leaf-area ratio (aLAR) and morphological traits of saplings of evergreen broadleaved tree species and a deciduous tree species. Although we found large interspecific and intraspecific differences in aLAR even among saplings of similar size in the homogeneous light environment, we did not find a consistent trend in aLAR with leaf lifespan among the species. While deciduous trees annually produced a large leaf area, some evergreen broadleaved trees retained their leaves across years and had aLAR values as high as those of deciduous trees. Among leaf-level, shoot-level, and individual-level morphological traits, aLAR was positively correlated with current-year shoots mass per aboveground biomass in deciduous trees, and with the area of old leaves per aboveground mass in evergreen broadleaved trees. Thus, tree-to-tree variation in the degrees of annual shoot production and the accumulation of old leaves were responsible for the interspecific and intraspecific variations in aLAR.  相似文献

We measured fine-root production at Acacia mangium (AM), Swietenia macrophylla (SM), and Araucaria cunninghamii (AC) sites in response to nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) application using the root-ingrowth core method for a period of 5 months in Sabah, Malaysia. Root growth increased significantly using a combined N and P application at the AM site, whereas it did not increase at the SM and AC sites. The number of nodules at the AM site increased significantly following N application and the combined application of N and P. Root production was not significantly enhanced by nutrient application at the SM and AC sites. At the AM site, both P and N were in high demand despite a larger N pool compared with at the SM and AC sites. These results can be explained by the larger nutrient demand by legumes. We conclude that both N and P is limiting for AM plantations under natural conditions and that N fertilization may be more effective than expected, depending on the site conditions.  相似文献

应用随机扩增多态性DNA (RAPD)技术对茶树无性系品种“晚绿”进行亲子关系分析。所用 10 8条随机引物中的 93条引物对日本静冈和枕畸两地取样的 6个无性系茶树品种的 8份材料的基因组DNA分别扩增出 1- 8条谱带 ,平均每条引物 3 5条。其中 19条引物扩增出“晚绿”与其母本“数北”不同的RAPD分子标记 30个。从中选择 6条引物对 8份供试材料的基因组DNA鉴定表明 ,其中 4个RAPD分子标记显示出“晚绿”品种特异性 ,说明包括“静在 16”在内的 4个供试品种都不是“晚绿”的真正父本。本文还证明 ,不同生态条件下生长的同一无性系茶树品种的基因组DNA具有遗传保守性  相似文献
