A 23-year-old Falabella gelding kept in Tochigi, Japan, for more than 20 years presented with a recurrent mass of the glans penis that was first noticed about a year earlier. Partial phallectomy was performed with no adjunctive therapy for local regrowth of the mass. The horse was euthanized 3 months after surgery for urinary retention due to suspected regrowth. The resected mass affected the genital and urethral mucosa of the glans penis, and was diagnosed as equine sarcoid by histopathology and identification of bovine papillomavirus (BPV) DNA. Phylogenetic analysis of the BPV genome of the sarcoid showed high sequence homology to BPV type 1 (BPV-1) from Hokkaido, Japan, suggesting a geographical relationship for BPV-1 in Japan. 相似文献

Based on sequences of two cosmid clones from Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica, Coja), we confirmed that the syntenic cluster, GNB2L1~BTN1~BTN2, is located in the quail TRIM subregion of the quail major histocompatibility complex (MHC Coja) region. These cosmids also included four CjBG loci and one CjLEC locus; therefore, the quail TRIM subregion was thought to be adjacent to the BG/LEC subregion. We then identified three polymorphic markers – CjHEP21, CjTRIM39.2 and CjBTN2 – in the TRIM subregion that may be useful for the functional analysis of the MHC‐Coja region. We examined MHC‐Coja sequences from 321 individual quails sampled from 11 inbred strains, and we found eight alleles for each of the three genes – CjHEP21, CjTRIM39.2 and CjBTN2. These polymorphisms represent the first avian DNA markers in the TRIM subregion. Additionally, we discovered a quail‐specific VNTR (variable number of long tandem repeats, 133–137 bp) in intron 7 of CjBTN2. We identified 25 haplotypes in the sample of 321 quail; these haplotypes comprised combinations of all 24 alleles of the three polymorphic genes. We suggest that there are two recombination hotspots, one between each pair of adjacent loci. All strains, except AMRP, contained multiple haplotypes; the AMRP strain contained a single, apparently fixed haplotype. 相似文献

Twenty‐eight original chicken microsatellite markers were isolated and characterized to determine their utility as cross‐reactive markers for comparative genetic mapping in the order Galliformes. Primer pairs were typed in 12 unrelated chickens and also tested on Japanese quail and helmeted guinea fowl deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Polymorphism was observed in 23 (82.1%) of the markers and the average number of alleles per locus was 2.9 while the mean heterozygosity was 0.19. Eleven (39.3%) of the chicken markers cross‐reacted with Japanese quail DNA and 2 (7.1%) with helmeted guinea fowl DNA. The cross‐reactive markers described would serve as useful resources for comparative genetic mapping in poultry species belonging to the order Galliformes. 相似文献

In aqueous solution, the herbicide pyrazolate [4‐(2,4‐dichlorobenzoyl)‐1,3‐dimethyl‐5‐pyrazolyl p‐toluenesulfonate] is rapidly hydrolyzed to destosyl pyrazolate (DTP), 4‐(2,4‐dichlorobenzoyl)‐1,3‐dimethyl‐5‐hydroxypyrazole, which is an active form of the herbicide. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of pyrazolate and DTP on carotenoids synthesis in susceptible weed, early watergrass (Echinochloa oryzicola Vasing.). Furthermore, their in vitro effect on 4‐hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) was determined. Roots of the plants at the two‐leaf stage were soaked for 24 h into pyrazolate (5 × 10–5 mol L?1) or norflurazon (10–6 mol L?1) solution containing 0.5% volume of acetone. At the first sampling time (3 days after treatment: 3 DAT), the chlorophyll content in the third leaves of pyrazolate‐treated plants were not different compared with the untreated control, but it was decreased between 3 and 6 DAT. The declining pattern of β‐carotene in the third leaf of early watergrass was very similar to that of chlorophyll. Both herbicides induced greater accumulation of phytoene in the third leaves of early watergrass 3 DAT, and the levels were kept until 9 DAT. However, feeding of homogentisate reduced the phytoene accumulation only in pyrazolate‐treated plants, suggesting the site of action of the herbicide located in the pathway of plastoquinone synthesis. In a HPPD assay, DTP revealed to inhibit the enzyme with an IC50 value of 13 nmol L?1 and that of pyrazolate was 52 nmol L?1. In the pyrazolate solution used in the assay, some of the herbicide possibly has been hydrolyzed to DTP. From the all results obtained, it is strongly suggested that pyrazolate inhibits carotenoids synthesis and causes bleaching on the developing leaves by the similar mechanism with norflurazon, but its action site is not phytoene desaturase and is HPPD. 相似文献

Chlamydia pecorum (designated 22–58) was isolated in 2010 in
HmLu-1 cells from the jejunum of a calf which died of necrotizing enterocolitis in
Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Immunohistochemical staining identified C.
pecorum positive reactions in the jejunal villi. C. pecorum,
designated 24–100, was isolated from the feces of a calf with diarrhea in another farm in
Yamaguchi Prefecture in 2012. A significant increase in neutralizing antibody titers
against C. pecorum was confirmed in paired sera. Nucleotide sequence
identities of omp1 genes of the 2 isolates were 100%. The isolates were
genetically and antigenically more closely related to C. pecorum
Bo/Yokohama strain isolated from cattle with enteritis in Japan than to the other
prototype strains, Bo/Maeda isolated from cattle with pneumonia and Ov/IPA isolated from
sheep with polyarthritis. These results indicate that C. pecorum strains
similar to 22–58 and 24–100 might be endemic in Yamaguchi Prefecture and cause enteric

Laparoscopic cryptorchidectomy without insufflation was applied in 10 standing bulls aged
3 to 15 months. Nine bulls were preoperatively pointed out intra-abdominal testes by
computed tomography. Preoperative fasting for a minimum of 24 hr provided laparoscopic
visualization of intra-abdominal area from the kidney to the inguinal region. Surgical
procedure was interrupted by intra-abdominal fat and testis size. It took 0.6 to 1.5 hr in
4 animals weighing 98 to 139 kg, 0.8 to 2.8 hr in 4 animals weighing 170 to 187 kg, and 3
and 4 hr in 2 animals weighing 244 and 300 kg to complete the cryptorchidectomy. In
conclusion, standing gasless laparoscopic cryptorchidectomy seems to be most suitable for
bulls weighing from 100 to 180 kg. 相似文献

During surveillance for bovine diarrhea of unknown causes in Japanese black cattle in Kagoshima Prefecture,
Japan, we found two types of novel kobu-like viruses in fecal samples of calves. Sequence analyses revealed
that they had L protein and 2A protein with H-box/NC sequence motif, which are present in kobuviruses.
Phylogenetic analysis revealed that they were related to kobuviruses; however, they clustered apart from other
kobuviruses. In the prevalence study of two types of novel kobu-like viruses, 16.9% and 10.4% prevalence of
these viruses were observed in the feces of diarrheal calves in this area. 相似文献

This study aimed to examine livestock–wildlife interactions at the micro level and to quantify how resources are shared in joint land use by comparing the monitoring records collected on the Lolldaiga Hills ranch in Laikipia, Kenya from 1990s onwards. Livestock and wildlife distributions together with existing water points were geo‐referenced; by air and road census total animal biomass densities were estimated. Through 38‐h observation at a water point, livestock–wildlife interaction was recorded. During this period, water decline has been identified as an acute factor for farming and ranching. It was found that distributions of livestock and wildlife were related to water and pasture availability during the severe drought in 2009. Although there is seasonality in densities of both livestock and wildlife populations, results of air census indicated that the stable resident populations of wildlife have resided on the ranch. In this paper, we describe how livestock and wildlife interact at a water point and on pastures on the ranch in terms of biomass density. Such resources shared at different times need to be investigated further as a key factor to improve productivity of livestock–wildlife joint land use. 相似文献
