The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effects of cage floor and cage density on stress parameters of laying hens. A total of 162 brown laying hens (Hyline Brown), aged 34 weeks, were used in the experiment. Compact-type battery cages, with three floors, were used. Hens were allocated as one, three or five hens in each of 18 cages to obtain three different cage density groups of 1968, 656 and 393.8 cm2 floor area per hen, respectively. The same number of cages with different cage density were allocated to three different battery floors (first floor=top, second=middle, third=bottom) systematically. Values for body weight, mortality rate, egg weight, egg production, egg quality characteristics, egg yolk cholesterol content, the levels of blood plasma corticosterone, serum glucose, total cholesterol and triglycerides, the ratio of heterophils to lymphocytes (H-L ratio), antibody titers, claw length score, foot health score, plumage score and throat skin injuries were taken as indicators of stress. The values for egg weight (P<0.01) at the first floor were greater than the other floor levels. The group with five hens per cage had significantly lower mean estimates (P<0.01) than other groups with respects to body weight (P<0.001), egg production (P<0.001), egg weight (P<0.001) and plumage score (P<0.01), while significantly higher mean estimates for egg albumen index (P<0.01), Haugh unit (P<0.01), serum glucose (P<0.001), and H-L ratio (P<0.001). Serum cholesterol was higher in cages with one hen than that with five hens, whereas plasma corticosterone was lower. Antibody titers in cages with one hen was similar to that with three or five hens; however, those with three hens had higher titers than those with five hens. Values for egg breaking strength, yolk index, egg cholesterol content, and foot health score were not affected by cage density or floor. The results suggest that the allocation of three hens per cage had no measurable effect on health and welfare.  相似文献

柘林湾网箱养殖海域溶解氧分布及其影响因素   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
根据1998年7月在南海东北部柘林湾的调查数据,探讨网箱养殖海域溶解氧的分布及其与其他环境因子间的关系,结果显示夏季海水溶解氧浓度为3.03-7.86mg/L( 平均5.30),退潮时(平均5.71)高于涨潮时(平均4.65)涨潮时网箱区内贫氧( <0.mg/L).多元逐步回归分析表明,对溶解氧浓度有重要影响的水质因子为pH和水温,其次为盐度,COD和营养盐,它们的变化与DO的变化有较好的相关性,区域比较表明,海水溶解氧浓度与观测僧置到网箱区的距离呈正相关(P<0.02),与底质硫物,PO4-P含量呈负相关(P<0.05),溶解氧浓度偏低与养殖环境的污染有直接关系。  相似文献

A numerical model for analyzing dynamic properties of a net-cage system exposed in the open sea is proposed. The model is based on a lumped-mass method. In this model, the mooring lines are divided into linear elements and the net cage divided into several plane surface elements. The interconnected points or corners are called nodes or lumped-mass centers. The external force is calculated on each element and then equally distributed to its nodes. By adding the contributed forces from the neighboring elements, a system of motion equations for nodes is formed. The volume reduction coefficient of a net cage is estimated by the ratio of minimum volume of net cage during fluid and structure interaction to the original volume. In general, the numerical results are in good agreements with the experimental data. However, the results also show that if the Reynolds number is lower than the suggested range of 1400–1800, the numerical model may underestimate the environmental forces on a net-cage system.  相似文献

The ecosystem carrying capacity for aquaculture cage farming in South Australia is based on guidelines that the maximum feed rates (and farmed fish biomass) be determined such that the concentration c of a given dissolved nutrient does not exceed a prescribed value (say cP). The problem then is one of relating the nutrient flux F, due to feeding, to the tracer concentration c. To this end the evolution of concentration is modelled using the depth-averaged advection–diffusion equation for a constant source flux F over a finite area cage (or lease) and for both constant and time dependent (tidal) velocities. The divergence theorem is applied to this equation to obtain a new scale estimate of the relation between the flux F and the maximum concentration cmax of a nutrient in the cage region: cmax  F·T*, where T* is a time scale of cage “flushing” that involves both advection and diffusion. The maximum allowed nutrient flux F (and carrying capacity of fish biomass) can then be simply estimated from: F  cP/T*. New semi-analytic solutions of the advection–diffusion equation for a finite (cage) source are then derived to explore the physics of concentration evolution for constant and tidally varying currents, and to show that the estimate cmax  F·T* is surprisingly robust and generally within 40% of the exact values for a wide set of advective/diffusive parameters. The results generally should find application in other finite source flux problems in the coastal oceans including desalination plants and waste water outfalls.  相似文献

In this study, waves propagating through a square array of 16 net cages with different levels of biofouling are numerically studied using a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. A porous-media fluid model is adopted to simulate both clean and biofouled netting of a cage array in waves. A numerical wave tank is built, and the oscillating-boundary method is adopted to generate waves. The flow motion is solved by the Navier-Stokes equations, and the free water surface is captured using the volume of fluid (VOF) method. The numerical model is validated by comparing the numerical data with corresponding experimental measurements of a net-cage model with clean netting. To analyze wave attenuation, a numerical analysis of wave elevation both inside and around the cage arrays is presented, which considers the effect of biofouling. Based on the results of the present study, the effect of biofouling on wave elevation is noticeable; the damping effect of the cage array increases with increasing level of biofouling. Furthermore, the incident angle of waves has a noticeable effect on the wave field inside and around the cage array.  相似文献
