Adaptability analysis of Leuciscus waleckii in saline-alkaline water in western Jilin Province

Abstract:In order to understand the adaptation of Leuciscus waleckii to the saline-alkaline water,L.waleckii was tranplanted into Lake Sanwang which is a saline-alkaline water in western Jilin Province.Based on the researches of the growth,feeding habits and ecological niche of L.waleckii,its adaptability to Lake Sanwang was analyzed by comparison with the wild population of L.waleckii in Laolongkou Reservoir in eastern Jilin Province.The results showed that,the growth of L.waleckii in both water bodies belonged to positive allometric growth within non-isometric growth type,and no significant difference were detected in plumpness index(P≥0.05).L.waleckii belonged to the medium trophic niche in Lake Sanwang,which was an omnivorous fish with animal food preferance.In Lake Sangwang the relative abundance of L.waleckii was negatively correlated with pH value,salinity,conductivity,total dissolved solids,total nitrogen,total phosphorus,non-ionic ammonia,chemical oxygen demand,five-day biochemical oxygen demand,alkalinity and phytoplankton density,whereas positively correlated with dissolved oxygen and zooplankton density.However,the correlations were not significant(P≥0.05).The results indicated that L.waleckii adapted well to saline-alkaline water in western Jilin Province,and showed high tolerance to the water environment,thus it can quickly form a dominant population under the condition of appropriate fish fauna composition.
