Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the potential use of dried cassava pulp (DCP) with reference to productive performance, nutrient digestibility, egg quality, egg yolk cholesterol, cecal microbial populations, and volatile fatty acids production in laying hens. In experiment 1, a total of 48 laying hens (Isa Brown) were placed in individual cages and assigned randomly to one of 6 dietary treatment groups consisting of a control and 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25% DCP for 10 d. Feeding laying hens with diets containing up to 20% DCP did not affect the dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) digestibility and nitrogen (N) retention (P > 0.05). In experiment 2, a total of 288 laying hens (Isa Brown) were randomly distributed to 6 dietary groups (one control and 5 DCP: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25%) for 12 wk. The results show that diets containing up to 20% DCP had no significant effects on productive performance or egg quality (P > 0.05). The inclusion of DCP at levels of 20 to 25% showed a positive effect on decreased egg yolk cholesterol (P < 0.05). In addition, DCP also increased the cecal Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium populations, acetic acid, and propionic acid production. In conclusion, DCP can be used as part of the energy source in laying hen diets at up to 20% inclusion, without showing negative effects on productive performance, nutrient digestibility, and egg quality. Feeding DCP can potentially modulate egg yolk cholesterol and cecal microbial populations and alter volatile fatty acids production.  相似文献

1. Laying hen performance, egg quality, intestinal viscosity and nutrient apparent digestibility were evaluated with respect to the main cereal used in the diet and dosage rate of a fungal beta-glucanase/xylanase enzyme complex. 2. Twelve diets were arranged factorially, with three soluble fibre cereals (SFC); 500 g/kg of wheat or barley or 350 g/kg of rye, and 4 enzyme concentrations (0, 250, 1250 and 2500 mg/kg). An additional control diet based on maize was also included. 3. The use of SFC in the diet instead of maize did not affect egg production or food efficiency, but hens fed on SFC diets exhibited a higher incidence of dirty eggs than hens fed on the maize diet (8-6 vs 4.6%; P<0.01). 4. Laying hens fed on enzyme-supplemented diets produced more eggs (2.1%; P<0.05) and had better food efficiency per dozen eggs (2.5%; P<005) than hens fed on non-supplemented diets. An excess of enzymes in the diet (10 times the recommended dose) did not produce any deleterious effect on laying hen productivity. 5. Enzyme supplementation (ES) reduced intestinal viscosity (P<0.001) and the incidence of dirty eggs (P<0.01). The reduction in viscosity was more pronounced in barley than in wheat or rye diets (P<0.05). 6. Apparent nutrient digestibility in SFC diets was higher with ES, including dry matter (3.1%; P=0.08), fat (4.4%; P<0.001), non-starch polysaccharides (83.3%; P<0.01) and AMEn (2.5%, P<0.01). 7. It is concluded that substitution of maize by SFC is facilitated by ES, especially with respect to egg production, food conversion efficiency and egg shell cleanliness. An excess of enzymes did not produce any deleterious effect on nutrient digestibility or performance of laying hens.  相似文献

本试验选用864只健康海兰褐蛋鸡,随机分为4个处理,在基础日粮中分别添加0.01%、0.02%芽孢杆菌微生态制剂以及0.02%合生素类复合微生态制剂,研究其对蛋鸡生产性能和饲料营养物质消化率的影响。结果表明:0.01%芽孢杆菌组和0.02%复合组极显著提高蛋鸡的产蛋率、产蛋量和采食量(P<0.01),显著提高日粮表观代谢能、干物质及相关氨基酸(除天冬氨酸和酪氨酸外)的表观消化率(P<0.05);0.02%复合组还显著提高蛋鸡平均蛋重(P<0.05),降低料蛋比(P<0.05),提高日粮蛋白质、钙、磷的表观消化率(P<0.05)。添加适量的芽孢杆菌及合生素类复合微生态制剂可以提高产蛋后期蛋鸡生产性能和饲料营养物质表观消化率,但过量使用可能会产生不利影响。  相似文献

Utilization of agricultural wastes in animal nutrition is a matter of great concern. Dried citrus pulp (DCP) is a potential source of some valuable nutrients for animal and poultry. In an experiment with completely randomized design, the effect of different levels (0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, and 16%) of DCP was evaluated on performance, egg quality, and blood parameters of laying hens from 25 to 37 weeks of age. The birds were randomly allocated to five groups with six replicates and three birds in each replicate. The results showed that with increasing the level of DCP up to 12%, there were no significant differences among treatments for feed intake, egg production, egg mass, feed conversion ratio, final body weight, yolk index, and yolk color. There were no significant differences between treatments in shell thickness, eggshell index, egg score, and Haugh unit. Utilization of DCP up to 16% significantly increased serum glucose and high-density lipoprotein and reduced cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides (P < 0.05). Results of the present study indicated that use of 12% DCP in laying hen diets had no adverse effect on performance and egg quality of laying hens in early phase of production.  相似文献

The increased cost of energy for laying hen diets has resulted in the use of enzymes, such as xylanase, to increase energy digestibility and thereby reduce the need for dietary energy. A 24-wk-long experiment was conducted using 432 twenty-week-old Hy-Line W36 first-cycle laying hens to determine the effects of energy concentrations and xylanase supplementation (Hostazym X 100) on hen performance, ME, and body composition. Three concentrations of dietary energy were fed with and without xylanase supplementation in a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments. Diets were reformulated twice over the experiment (wk 30 and 40) due to increased feed intake or changes in egg production. Dietary energy main effect treatments included a control (C), C − 77 kcal/kg, and C − 154 kcal/kg diets. Egg production, feed intake, BW, egg weight, egg mass, and FE data were collected during the experiment. Nitrogen-corrected AME was determined at 32 and 44 wk of age, and featherless body composition (crude fat, CP, and ash) was determined at 44 wk of age. Hen-day egg production was increased in hens fed dietary xylanase during wk 31 to 40 and 20 to 44. Feed intake was increased with reduced dietary energy during all periods evaluated. Egg mass and FE were improved with xylanase supplementation during wk 31 to 40 and 20 to 44. Hen BW was not different among treatments and egg weight was only significantly different at select time periods with no consistent responses over time. Main effects at hen wk 32 showed that reduced energy resulted in reduced AMEn and xylanase increased AMEn. In contrast, xylanase treatment resulted in reduced AMEn when measured at the end of wk 44. Overall, supplementation of xylanse to laying hens increased egg production, egg mass, and FE, although AMEn results were inconsistent and body composition data were dependent on dietary energy.  相似文献

Soil intake may be the most prominent source of environmental contaminants for free range and organic hens, but there are no quantitative data concerning soil intake by domestic hens. Consumption of soil of 14–32 g a day can be estimated from literature, but such a dilution of nutrient intake seems incompatible with high productivity. In this study laying hens were fed pelleted diets with 0%, 10%, 20%, 25% and 30% of sand addition to determine its effect on productivity. Feed intake, feed and nutrient (feed minus sand) conversion ratio, egg production, egg weight and body weight gain were measured over a 4-week period. Acid insoluble ash concentration in the faeces was measured to determine the accuracy of estimating the soil ingestion by the soil-ingestion equation for wildlife as a way to determine soil ingestion of free range and organic hens under practical circumstances. The hens were able to compensate the dilution of the diet with 20%, 25% and 30% of sand by increasing their feed intake. Feed intake increased significantly and feed to egg conversion ratio decreased significantly with increasing sand levels in the diet. The nutrient to egg conversion ratio of the diet without sand tended to be worse than for the diets with sand, presumably due to the total absence of coarse material in the diet. There were no differences in egg production and egg weight between hens fed the different diets but body weight gain was significantly lower for the hens fed the diets with 20%, 25% and 30% of sand. Estimation of sand ingestion was done by the soil-ingestion equation for wildlife. Provided that the actual dry matter digestibility coefficient of the nutrient part of the diet is taken into account, estimating the soil ingestion according to the soil-ingestion equation for wildlife seems an appropriate way to determine soil ingestion for free range and organic hens under practical circumstances.  相似文献

A 24-week performance trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of an experimental phytase on performance, egg quality, tibia ash content and phosphorus excretion in laying hens fed on either a maize- or a barley-based diet. At the end of the trial, an ileal absorption assay was conducted in order to determine the influence of phytase supplementation on the apparent absorption of calcium and total phosphorus (P). Each experimental diet was formulated either as a positive control containing 3.2 g/kg non-phytate phosphorus (NPP), with the addition of dicalcium phosphate (DCP), or as a low P one, without DCP addition. Both low P diets (containing 1.3 or 1.1 g/kg NPP) were supplemented with microbial phytase at 0, 150, 300 and 450 U/kg. The birds were housed in cages, allocating two hens per cage as the experimental unit. Each of 10 dietary treatments was assigned to 16 replicates. Low dietary NPP (below 1.3 g/kg) was not able to support optimum performance of hens during the laying cycle (from 22 to 46 weeks of age), either in maize or barley diets. Rate of lay, daily egg mass output, feed consumption, tibia ash percentage and weight gain were reduced in hens fed low NPP diets. The adverse effects of a low P diet were more severe in hens on a maize diet than in those on a barley diet. Low dietary NPP reduced egg production, weight gain, feed consumption and tibia ash content and microbial phytase supplementation improved these parameters. Hens given low NPP diets supplemented with phytase performed as well as the hens on positive control diets containing 3.2 g/kg of NPP. A 49% reduction of excreta P content was achieved by feeding hens on low NPP diets supplemented with phytase, without compromising performance. Phytase addition to low NPP diets increased total phosphorus absorption at the ileal level, from 0.25 to 0.51 in the maize diet and from 0.34 to 0.58 in the barley diet. Phosphorus absorption increased linearly with increasing levels of dietary phytase. Mean phosphorus absorption was higher in barley diets than in maize diets (0.49 vs 0.39).  相似文献

试验用38周龄健康的罗曼粉壳蛋鸡600只,经饲喂玉米-豆粕-麦麸型基础日粮(蛋氨酸0.22%、蛋氨酸+胱氨酸0.48%)10d后,随机分为4个处理,每个处理5个重复,每个重复30只蛋鸡。处理1为对照组,饲喂基础日粮;处理2在每千克基础日粮中添加1.325gDL-Met;处理3和处理4以液体蛋氨酸羟基类似物(HMB,活性物质88%)在等摩尔基础上按100%或50%分别替代处理2的DL-Met。试验期10周。试验结果表明:在基础饲粮中添加DL-Met以满足高产蛋鸡的蛋氨酸需要可提高3~10周的产蛋率,并极显著地提高了3~10周的蛋重、日产蛋重、干物质、钙、磷和粗蛋白的表观代谢率(P<0.01),极显著降低了饲料转化率比(P<0.01),对采食量、鸡蛋蛋形指数、破蛋率、软蛋率、蛋黄重、蛋黄比例、哈氏单位、蛋壳重、蛋壳厚度、蛋壳强度、鸡蛋水分和粗蛋白含量无显著影响(P>0.05)。在等摩尔基础上HMB以100%或50%替代DL-Met,对蛋鸡生产性能、鸡蛋品质和养分代谢率的影响与DL-Met无显著差异。结果表明在蛋鸡玉米-豆粕-麦麸型饲粮中HMB的生物学效价与DL-Met相同。  相似文献

本试验旨在研究酵母培养物(YC)对产蛋鸡生产性能、蛋品质及鸡蛋卫生指标的影响。选取2 304只210日龄的罗曼褐产蛋鸡,随机分成4组,每组3个重复,每个重复192只产蛋鸡。对照组(YC0组)饲喂玉米-豆粕型基础饲粮,试验组(YC0.2组、YC0.4组和YC0.6组)分别饲喂在基础饲粮中添加0.2%、0.4%和0.6%酵母培养物的试验饲粮。试验期9周。结果表明:1)与对照组相比,YC0.4组和YC0.6组平均蛋重显著增加(P0.05),破蛋率显著降低(P0.05);YC0.2组、YC0.4组和YC0.6组软蛋率显著降低(P0.05)。2)与对照组相比,YC0.4组和YC0.6组蛋壳厚度显著增大(P0.05);YC0.2组、YC0.4组和YC0.6组蛋黄颜色的亮度值显著降低(P0.05),黄度值显著升高(P0.05);YC0.6组蛋黄颜色的红度值显著升高(P0.05)。3)与对照组相比,试验第3、9周,YC0.2组、YC0.4组和YC0.6组的蛋壳表面大肠菌群数量显著降低(P0.05);试验第3、6周,YC0.4组蛋壳表面细菌总数显著降低(P0.05)。4)对照组组相比,YC0.6组粗蛋白质、能量和干物质表观消化率显著提高(P0.05)。5)与对照组相比,YC0.2组、YC0.4组和YC0.6组盲肠乳酸杆菌数量显著降低(P0.05)。由此可见,饲粮添加0.4%和0.6%的酵母培养物能够改善产蛋鸡蛋品质,提高饲料消化率;饲粮添加0.2%、0.4%和0.6%酵母培养物均能够改善产蛋鸡的生产性能,减少大肠杆菌的数量,抑制盲肠中沙门氏菌的产生。综合考虑,产蛋鸡饲粮中酵母培养物适宜添加量为0.4%。  相似文献

1. A study was conducted to determine the effects of dried broccoli floret (DBF) on egg production parameters, egg quality and apparent nutrient digestibility of laying hens. It was hypothesised that feeding DBF can improve egg quality without adversely affecting layer performance.2. Seventy-two White Leghorn layers aged 62 weeks were randomly allotted to 4 dietary treatments (6 cage replicates with 3 hens each) and fed diets containing 0, 40, 80 and 120 g/kg DBF in feed for 56 d.3. Inclusion of DBF had no effect on feed intake, egg production, feed conversion ratio or egg components. However, egg weight increased (linear effect, P < 0.05) as the level of DBF in the diet increased. Egg breakage strength, eggshell strength and Haugh unit were not influenced by dietary treatments. Egg yolk colour (quadratic effect, = 0.002) and α-tocopherol concentration (quadratic effect, < 0.0001) improved as a result of DBF inclusion. Egg yolk cholesterol concentration was not altered by DBF inclusion. Apparent total tract nutrient (dry matter, organic matter and crude protein) digestibility coefficients decreased (linear effect, P < 0.05) as the level of DBF increased.4. Feeding DBF to layers up to 120 g/kg of the diet had no negative effects on feed intake, egg production and feed efficiency and improved egg yolk colour and α-tocopherol concentration. However, total tract nutrient digestibility coefficients were negatively decreased as a result of DBF inclusion.  相似文献

本试验旨在研究大豆肽和乳酸菌素对蛋鸡生产性能、蛋品质及血液生化指标的影响.选取336日龄健康罗曼商品蛋鸡576只,随机分成8组,每组3个重复,每个重复24只鸡.对照组饲喂基础饲粮,试验组分别饲喂在基础饲粮中添加0.075%、0.15%、0.3%大豆肽和0.1%、0.2%、0.4%乳酸菌素及0.15%大豆肽+0.2%乳酸菌素的试验饲粮.预试期1周,正试期4周.结果表明:1)饲粮中添加0.15%大豆肽或0.2%乳酸菌素均可显著提高蛋鸡产蛋率(P<0.01),降低料蛋比(P<0.05),显著提高哈夫单位(P<0.05),对平均日采食量、蛋壳厚度、蛋壳强度无显著影响(P>0.05).2)饲粮中添加0.15%大豆肽或0.2%乳酸菌素可以极显著或显著提高血浆谷草转氨酶(GOT) (P <0.01,P<0.05)、谷丙转氨酶(GPT)活性(P<0.01),降低血浆尿酸含量(P<0.01),对血浆总蛋白、清蛋白、球蛋白含量无显著影响(P>0.05).由此可见,饲粮中添加0.15%的大豆肽或0.2%的乳酸菌素均能提高蛋鸡生产性能和蛋品质,改善蛋白质代谢,并且0.15%大豆肽+0.2%乳酸菌素的联合应用优于单独添加大豆肽或乳酸菌素.  相似文献

本文旨在研究饲粮不同缬氨酸水平对蛋鸡生产性能、蛋品质及血清生化指标的影响,并探讨蛋鸡饲粮中缬氨酸的最适添加量.试验选用720只体重相近的40周龄的海兰褐壳蛋鸡,随机分成5组,每组4个重复,每个重复36只鸡,分别饲喂缬氨酸水平为0.6%、0.7%、0.8%、0.9%、1.0%的饲粮,试验期为56 d.结果表明:1)0.8%水平组料蛋比和1.0%水平组平均日采食量分别最低,与其他各组均差异显著(P<0.05);各组产蛋率、平均蛋重和日产蛋均重均无显著差异(P>0.05).2)0.8%水平组蛋壳强度最大,1.0%水平组蛋清蛋白质含量最低,与其他各组均差异显著(P<0.05)或有显著的趋势(P<0.10);各组蛋壳厚度、哈夫单位、蛋黄颜色、蛋白高度、蛋黄和蛋清相对重均无显著差异(P>0.05).3)0.8%水平组血清葡萄糖含量最高,显著高于其他各组(P<0.05);0.8%水平组血清尿素氮和尿酸含量最低,总氨基酸含量最高,与其他各组均有差异显著的趋势(P<0.10).4)二次曲线分析表明:当饲粮代谢能为11.31 MJ/kg、粗蛋白质水平为15.81%、赖氨酸水平为0.77%时,以料蛋比为评价指标,产蛋高峰期蛋鸡缬氨酸需要量为0.78%,以蛋壳强度和血清白蛋白含量为评价指标,缬氨酸需要量分别为0.81%和0.75%.由此可知,基础饲粮中添加一定量的缬氨酸可降低产蛋高峰期蛋鸡料蛋比,增强蛋壳强度和提高血清葡萄糖含量.  相似文献

Two experiments determined the efficacy of an Escherichia coli phytase (ECP) added to P-deficient, corn-soybean meal diets fed to finishing pigs and second-cycle laying hens. Sixty finishing pigs (49 +/- 0.9 kg) were formed into blocks within sex based on weight and ancestry and allotted to a P-deficient diet unsupplemented or supplemented with 0.10% inorganic P (iP) from KH2PO4 or ECP at 250, 500, 1,000, or 10,000 phytase units (FTU)/kg. Individually fed pigs were allowed ad libitum access to the experimental diets until a BW of 120 +/- 3 kg was achieved, at which time the pigs were euthanized and the left fibula and fourth metatarsal were excised for determination of bone ash. Pigs were fed a 2-phase diet program for early- and late-finishing pigs; available P in the basal diets was set 0.10% below the requirement. Dietary supplementation of iP or ECP increased weight gain (P < 0.10) and G:F (P < 0.01); performance was not different (P > 0.13) among the phytase-supplemented groups. Fibula ash was greatest (P < 0.01) for pigs fed diets containing 10,000 FTU of ECP/kg. Two hundred forty second-cycle hens were allotted to a P-deficient diet or a P-deficient diet supplemented with 0.10% iP or ECP at 150, 300, or 10,000 FTU/kg for a 12-wk experiment. The basal diet was a corn-soybean meal diet with no added iP (17% CP, 3.8% Ca, 0.10% available P). Hens fed the P-deficient diet were removed from the experiment after 4 wk due to poor egg production. Supplementation of iP or ECP resulted in increased (P < 0.01) feed intake, egg weight, and egg production during the first 4 wk. During the entire 12-wk period, there were no differences (P > 0.28) between the iP- and ECP-supplemented groups in feed intake, egg weight, or egg production. These experiments reveal that ECP was as efficacious as supplemental iP and that supplementation of an excess dose of ECP was efficacious and without negative effects in finishing pigs and laying hens.  相似文献

文章旨在评估不同饲养方式对蛋鸡生产性能、蛋品质和血清生化指标的影响。试验选择产蛋性能接近的22周龄海兰褐壳蛋鸡540只,随机分为3组,每组5个重复,每个重复36只。笼养组蛋鸡采用三层阶梯饲养(0.6 m2/只),网上平养组蛋鸡在金属网丝上饲养(1.5 m2/只),垫料平养组在平铺20 cm稻壳的水泥地板上平养(1.8 m2/只)。试验共开展28周,包括2周的适应期。结果:网上平养和垫料平养组24~36 w和24~29 w蛋鸡平均日采食量较笼养组蛋鸡分别显著提高5.71%、6.22%和4.81%、4.48%(P<0.05)。此外,垫料平养组24~36 w和24~49 w蛋鸡的料重比较笼养组分别显著提高7.31%和4.09%(P<0.05)。在36 w时,垫料平养组鸡蛋的蛋壳强度最高,脏蛋率最低(P<0.05)。在49 w时,笼养组鸡蛋的蛋壳厚度最低(P<0.05),脏蛋率最高(P<0.05)。笼养组蛋鸡血清葡萄糖、甘油三酯、总蛋白和胆固醇浓度均最高(P<0.05),但高密度脂蛋白浓度最低(P<0.05)。结论:网上平养和垫料平养可以提高蛋鸡采食量,但笼养蛋鸡的饲料效率表现最佳。此外,垫料平养提高了鸡蛋的蛋壳强度和蛋壳厚度,降低了破蛋率。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

1. Four batches of wheat distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) produced by a single production plant were used to investigate variation in digestible energy (DE) and nutrient digestibility for laying hens.

2. A total of 144 Hy-Line Brown laying hens were allocated to eight treatment groups in replicates of six. Experimental diets were prepared by replacing the basal feed with either 150 g/kg or 300 g/kg of each batch of DDGS.

3. Chemical analysis of the DDGS showed variation between the different batches. Largest coefficients of variation were observed for starch (0.546) and total soluble non-starch polysaccharides (NSP; 0.276).

4. Digestible energy and the nutrient digestibility of each diet was measured using the ileal collection technique. Data were statistically analysed as a blocked 2 × 4 factorial design analysis of variance (ANOVA).

5. Variability between the different diets were observed for digestible energy and the digestibility of certain nutrients (P < 0.05).

6. The observed differences in energy utilisation and nutrient digestibility in laying hens suggested that the feeding quality of diets containing different wheat DDGS batches produced by a single production plant may still have large variation.  相似文献

The use of new varieties of pearl millet (PM) as an alternative feed ingredient for poultry has gained increased interest due to the favorable nutritional characteristics of this grain. However, its incorporation into poultry feeds has been limited because commercial availability of PM in the United States is currently low and also because many feed mills lack the capacity to store more than 1 ground grain. Previous studies have demonstrated the advantages of the inclusion of moderate levels of whole grains in poultry feeds. A series of 3 experiments was conducted to investigate whether unground PM would be a satisfactory feed ingredient for laying hens. In Experiment 1, diets containing 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40% unground PM were fed. At the end of a 7-d feeding period, it was determined that the percentage of whole seed disappearance was equal to or greater than 98% at all levels of inclusion. No significant differences in whole seed disappearance were detected among treatments, indicating that laying hens have the capacity to break down whole PM seeds. In Experiment 2, diets containing 0 or 15% inclusion of either ground or unground PM were fed to laying hens for a 7-d feeding period. Starch digestibility of the diets was determined to be >97% for all treatments. Significantly greater starch digestibility was observed in the hens fed the 15% unground PM as compared with the hens receiving the ground PM diet. In Experiment 3, after a 4-wk feeding period, it was determined that the inclusion of 10% unground PM does not have a negative or positive effect on feed consumption or egg production. These results indicate that PM is a satisfactory feed ingredient for laying hens that can be included in the unground form at moderate levels.  相似文献

Moulded and mycotoxin containing barley was incorporated into the diets for laying hens to study the effects on performance and health. Health indicators were different blood plasma parameters and liver vitamin A and E levels. A total of 30 hens were fed 3 diets, one supplemented with 30% of toxin-free and two with differently moulded barley from 1997 and 1998 for 7 weeks. The moulded diets contained low to moderate concentrations of ochratoxin A, zearalenone, deoxynivalenol and nivalenol. Inclusion of mouldy barley in the diets had an adverse effect on feed intake, feed conversion, digestibility of nutrients, egg production and egg quality. Plasma alkaline phosphatase was increased and certain biochemical blood parameters (bilirubin, uric acid, chlorine, protein, albumin, vitamin A) were also higher or changed compared to control. The ochratoxin A contamination although relatively low could have contributed to some of these effects as well as reduced intake of feed. The higher mould contamination and an unidentified cell-toxic constituent in the diet containing barley from 1998 can probably also explain the more marked effects from this diet.  相似文献

This study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary cerium oxide levels (0, 100, 200, 300 or 400 mg/kg) on the laying performance, egg quality, some blood serum parameters and egg lipid peroxidation of laying hen. In total, one hundred and twenty 22‐week‐old brown Lohman LSL laying hens were randomly assigned to five groups equally (n = 24). Each treatment was replicated six times. Dietary supplementation of cerium oxide had no significant effect on feed intake and egg weight. The addition of cerium oxide to the laying hens' feed improved feed conversion ratio and increased (p < 0.05) egg production. Quality criteria of egg for except shell breaking strength were not affected by supplementing cerium oxide. In particular, supplementation of 200 and 300 mg/kg cerium oxide to the laying hens feed led to a significant (p < 0. 01) increase in egg shell breaking strength. Calcium and phosphorus concentration of serum increased significantly (p < 0.05) with supplementation of 100 mg/kg cerium oxide to laying hen diets. It was also observed that serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration decreased significantly with supplementation of cerium oxide in diets. Inclusion of cerium oxide resulted in a significant reduction in thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) values in egg yolk in this study. It can be concluded that the addition of cerium oxide had positive effects on egg production, feed conversion ratio and egg shelf life. Based on the results of this study, it could be advised to supplement laying hens feed with cerium oxide as feed additives.  相似文献

An experiment was carried out to measure the suitability of using formic acid-treated shrimp meal (TSM) as a protein source for aged laying hens. Shrimp meal (SM), air-dried shrimp waste was treated with 3% formic acid (w/v) at room temperature for 20 min, sun-dried, ground to pass through 1.0 mm mesh screen and then ready to use as the TSM. A total of 56 Single Comb White Leghorn hens, 85 wk of age, were placed in individual cages and assigned randomly into 7 dietary groups of 8 birds each. A control diet, diets containing 5, 10, and 15% SM and diets containing 5, 10, and 15% TSM were prepared. Diets and water were given ad libitum during the 30-d experimental period. Hen-day egg production, egg mass, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were deteriorated with increasing levels of the SM in the diets (P < 0.05). In contrast, these parameters were unchanged with increasing levels of the TSM in diets and compatible with the control group. No significant improvements were observed in exterior or interior egg quality among the dietary groups, except for eggshell weight, strength and yolk color, which were significantly increased in SM and TSM groups when compared to the values in control group (P < 0.05). It is concluded that inclusion of TSM up to 15% in laying hen diets may have beneficial effects on laying performance along with improved eggshell quality and yolk color, and suggested that TSM is a promising combined source of protein and calcium in aged laying hens.  相似文献
